Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT) is India’s largest maritime institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. HIMT Chennai is affiliated to Indian Maritime University and has been approved by Directorate General of Shipping. It has been rated outstanding (Grade 1) for all its courses. The institute offers wide range courses in the field of nautical science and marine engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate level. HIMT Chennai admissions are done on the basis of IMU-CET conducted by the Indian Maritime University.

Applicants seeking admission in the Maritime Institute are required to fill an online application form. They will also have to appear for IMU-CET conducted at the university level. Apart from this, they will also need to pay an application fee of INR 1,000 either through Netbanking or Demand Draft in favor of “HIMT COLLEGE” payable at Chennai. The candidates who will clear the entrance exam are called for Psychometric Test, Medical Examination followed by Panel Interview and Pre-Sea Training.

Before I applied to this college I had also applied to Great Eastern College, but the college didn't have any updates until I cleared this college admission formalities. initially the college had said that the batch will start the course by July then they postponed the course to September.HIMT requires you to have 65% aggregate in your B.Tech Degree and 60% PCM in 12th.

HIMT is one of the finest institution in south india where they value saftey and punctuality as the key to success. Rather than any other institutions the training we get in himt is top class, placement records of the institution is the best evidence for this.

I didn't apply for any other colleges I just straight away applied to this college and they kept a selection interview and I have got selected and joined here as a electro technical officer trainee cadet admission process is very simple.. apply for the course .a basic interview, and fees payment .and that's it

The eligibility of the course is 65% in 10th,12th and degree. Regarding application form ,fees and available dates all are mentioned in the official HIMT website. There will a enterance exams which will be not so difficult.

To be eligible for the GME course you should have completed a Mechanical Engineering Degree with 60%. Acquired 50% in English in 10+2. Age limit: should not exceed 28 years on the date of commencement of the course. If you qualify, you can apply online at the HIMT College website, the registration fee is Rs. 999/- after registration you will have an online test(easy) and an online face-to-face interview(easy), once you clear both you can pay the fees and submit your documents. The entire admission process is a robust online system. Very user-friendly.

Admission process is entirely online, I got the opportunity for pre course placement with International Maritime Employers council arranged by HIMT, I could proudly tell I am from the first batch of IMEC Indian cadet Training Program. HIMT conduct online written test followed by an interview, if you clear both you can make the fees payment online and join the college 1 day prior course commencement date. GME program is conducted in 2 semesters and both semesters you have exam conducted by the college only.

The eligibility criteria for the course in this college is that you have to get an average of 60% or more in PCM (physics, chemistry, maths), you have take a medical test under a dg approved doctor and clear all the criterias for selection. You all have to qualify in IMUCET exam that held every year. All the details regarding admission are provided in their website and also you can in the admin office for the details.
