Journey through 1 year of GME @ HIMT College

Our course curriculum is very detailed as this is a 1 year bridging course, we have got lot to study in this 1 year, even though we are doing this course after mechanical engineering degree, there's lot to study about marine machineries. So one has to dedicately spend time for your studies.apart from academics we also have pt, parade and other routines to upskill our discipline standards.

As I mentioned early, there are lot of placement opportunities with HIMT college, Many big companies like MOL, Synergy, Goodwood, Eastaway, Damico, Dynacom, Sanmar, ASP ships, Western Shipping,Berge Bulk, Marlow often recruits cadets from HIMT college, in my batch 30 are already placed out of 40, who are passing out in August, remaining cadets are lined up for other companies visiting the campus in coming months. So on an overall HIMT is a safe place to begin your Maritime Career.

HIMT college has the lowest fees for this course in India provding the best facilities. And to promote women seafarers there's a huge discount for female seafarers, currently the course fee is 3,95,000 plus an additional refundable caution deposit of Rs.20000/-has to be paid, which would be refunded towards the end of the course if we don't make any breakages. The above course fee is inclusive of your uniform, books, tution fees, stationary, hostel, mess, stcw courses. By completion of the course we get CDC and SID also. While speaking on placement we have lot many companies visiting HIMT like MOL, MOLTQ, Dynacom, Eastaway, BSM, Synergy, ASP ship Management, Marlow Navigation, Vships and many others

There are many interesting inter college events happening across the semesters , we also have inhouse sports competitions semester wise. Football matches, volleyball matches, chess matches, even the faculties join with us in the competitions to make it more colorful, we also get chances to attend national level seminars like GLOMARS, INMARCO, GMIS, and many other , these events gives us the industry exposure as all shipping companies officials visit these events. At HIMT we have VR labs, where we are trained on various modules created by our Inhouse Faculties, these VR modules are very engaging and interactive. Our classrooms are fully air conditioned and have smart board facilities in all classrooms .

Hostel facilities are good, each room is shared by 4 inmates, where we get to live with intercultural personalities as it is onboard ship, we like the vibe in our campus and hostels, 24hrs water and electricity is available, we also have water coolers and entertainment facilities in all blocks. Mess room food is also hygienic and good quality, we get sufficient quantity of food, we have mixed cuisine of both south and north indian styles .

Admission process is entirely online, I got the opportunity for pre course placement with International Maritime Employers council arranged by HIMT, I could proudly tell I am from the first batch of IMEC Indian cadet Training Program. HIMT conduct online written test followed by an interview, if you clear both you can make the fees payment online and join the college 1 day prior course commencement date. GME program is conducted in 2 semesters and both semesters you have exam conducted by the college only.

Our facultys are the best chief engineers and master mariners, during my engineering degree time also I've seen many faculties, but faculties at HIMT are exceptional for the reason what they have made us today. We have gained in-depth knowledge and skills from our dedicated faculties who have not just imparted knowledge to us but also have made us strong enough to cope up the challenges at sea.
