Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed by the Kalam Technical University. It is designed to provide a compehensive and balanced educational experience. All the courses include practical components such as lab work, projects, internships and case studies. This hands on approach helps students apply theoretical knowledge to real world scenarios, enhancing their understanding and skills. Each semester has two internal exams and one end semester exam whose difficulties are appropriate. The only thing that has to improved is the length of the semesters, which is way too short. Each semester only lasts 3 months which is way too short of a time to learn each subject properly.
Internships Opportunities
The CS dept get a lot of offers for internships with stipends usually around 15k. Companies such as Ansys make internship offers. The key to getting internships is to build projects and to showcase them to the interviewers.
Placement Experience
The students are eligible for placements after the 5th semester. The computer science department generally has the highest and the most number of offers generally. This year the highest offer was 52LPA from DE Shaw and Co. The average package is around 6-8LPA. Almost all student except the ones who opt for highest studies get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
For Btech Computer Science Engineering, I pay around 45,000/- per year. Scholarships are available for students who got in through KEAM with high ranks and also for people who have reservation eligibilty. Fee hikes are decided by the college on their own and have no regular policy on it. Along with the 45,000/- you have to pay around 2000-3000 as senate fund. There are a lot of internship oppurtunities available. I do not know the stipend details as I did not go for internships.
Campus Life
Campus life is vibrant and engaging, offering a blend of academic rigor and social activities. Our Tech fest EXCEL is held annually in the month of March which is one of the biggest tech fests in Kerala. Sports and Arts festivals are also held annually in the college. The library is well stocked with a vast range f books, journals and digital resources. You can borrow a book and keep it with you as long as you need. Every class is equipped with projectors and high speed internet facilities. There are also a wide variety of clubs for students to join and spend their time being productive.
Admission
You can only apply to MEC by writing the KEAM examination. To get into BTech CSE the cut-off rank for general category is around 4000. The first part of the admission process is done through KEAM portal, after which MEC sends you all the necessary details through email. The cut off rank for reserved categories are very much lower than the general cut-off. The course fee are also lower for them. KEAM exam is held once a year and it is much easier than JEE.
Faculty
The faculty at my college are one of the institution's strongest assets. Their dedication to teaching and commitment to student success stand out prominently. The faculty members are highly qualified. One of the most commendable aspects of the faculty is their approachability. Professors are generally open to questions and provide ample support outside of class hours, whether through office hours, emails, or one on one meetings. Many teachers employ interactive teaching methods, including the use of multimedia tools, practical demonstrations, and engaging for students.
