Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The curriculum isn't that great at all. Because of NEP, we have to study 7 subjects, out of which 3 are random and don't make sense to our majors at all. Like who needs to study Hindi or EVS in college? Make it stop, please. It just adds unnecessary class hours to our weeks, and more exams and assignments, we don't learn anything useful from AEC or VAC courses.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

In the second year, a few companies come and offer internships. About 100 offers in total, with the highest stipend being 3.5Lakhs per month in 23-24, from Bank of America. Finance, consulting, marketing, sales roles are highly popular.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements start in the third year. Both course students sit for common placements. Various top MNCs visit and there are about 500+ offers in a year. According to the placement cell of the college, in 2023, highest package was 35LPA while the average was 10.15LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition is reasonable, just INR 30,355 annually (for the UR category). Scholarships are mostly available for EWS / OBC / SC / ST / Kashmiri Pandits, not for the UR category. The college doesn't charge you any extra fees unless you opt for a hostel facility. We are offered on-campus internships (about 100 offers for a batch of 1100 students) in our second year and placements (about 500 offers) in our third year.

Campus Life

4

There are events almost every day in this college. Because there are like 50 societies, and each society has its events, something is going on every single day. Course readings are available within the college itself in our coop shop, and readings usually cost 150 INR. So for economics, for your 4 core subjects, it costs you 600 per semester. We have a 2 floored library and various books are available. We have boards and projectors in our classrooms. Mostly functional. Sports complex is amazingly professional, and there are various student-run clubs one can be a part of.

Admission

I secured admission through CUET. The cut-off for economics was around 775 / 800 and it was 780 / 800 for Bcom honours. For economics, you require mathematics and English compulsorily to be eligible. For Bcom you require English and accountancy or mathematics. After CUET, you apply through DU's CSAS portal.

Faculty

3.5

So we have sections of about 50 students each. Economics has 4 sections per batch. Usually, a teacher takes up to 2 sections in a semester. So I'd say a 100: 1 faculty to student ratio. The faculty is great, vastly experienced, and knows a lot. They are mostly friendly and chill. However, a few can be strict and expect students to know everything just because they got into SRCC lol. We have a weekly tutorial class, with 10 students at a time. That gives us an amazing opportunity to interact with them and get valuable information.

Placement Experience:

The placement is decent, not extraordinary. The average package is around 4.5-5 LPA, and the highest is around 21LPA. Students become eligible during their final year. The companies that have visited are EY, Wipro, DE Shaw & Co., Deloitte, etc. Decent number of students don't sit for placements or choose higher studies instead. As for me, I plan to do an MBA after graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It DU, so i think for many students it comes down to if you are able to make it to cutt off list. So my decision was based on it. I cleared the cutt off list for english hons so i took it. I wanted to make my way for govt job, so it was all about getting a degree regardless of what subject i was getting. I think curriculum just make you educated enough to get to know but its the college life that make you come face to face with the real world. exams every 6 months i.e every semester i think its good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really like Human Geography which let me to opt for this paper. Besides theory papers, we also have practical papers every semester through which we conduct surveys, interviews, research which helps us in preparing for the real world applications as well as further academic pursuits if we want to go in the field of Remote sensing or GIS. I feel that for papers including research or management, we should be showcasing how we can mitigate them or adapt in such scenarios and also make drafts for writing a research for further pursuits. However, as the time is limited it is quite understandable as to why its not conducted. We have two exams in a year and they are quite relevant and easy
