Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum is well build for the practical as well as the theoretical knowledge. The only flaws with the curriculum is that in 1st year we have maths, which is not that much required for our field. Also sem 1 has less subject related to shipping. But i think it is good for beginners so that they could adapt with the environment.

Placement Experience

4.5

Since our college have less students so the chance of getting placement is much higher, most of our seniors are placed, if we have any Backlog in any subject then it is difficult to have a placement, Also for female cadets the placement ratio is very much hight, most the female cadets get placement from sem 2 itself. The companies visit here are MSC, Synergy, Chevron, Fleet management, Thom Tankers, Williamson, Anglo eastern etc After getting the degree we have a 12 months training period with paid stipends.

Fees and Financial Aid

We need to only pay the fees which is mentioned in the fee reciept. All the hostel and mess is included in the total fees. We also get uniforms, formal shoes, sport shoes, boiler suits, casual uniform and many more, . Only we need to pay exam fees which is about Rs. 4600 for each sem. Also e grantz and other scolerships are provided by the govt. Since I belong to SC, I get e grantz.

Campus Life

2.5

The IMU kochi has a good infrastructure, the library is also having sufficient books , also a new library is going to be built soon. We also have e library which also have a lot of books. There are less extracurricular activities in our campus. Also college fest's are also very less. The main celebrations in our college is for Onam, Diwali, Holi etc. Inter college events happens very less. We do have small small events.

Hostel Facilities

5

Compared to other college hostel , we have one of the best hostel, it is well maintained, neat and tieddy. The bathroom is also well maintained and neat. Water coolers are provided in every block in the hostel. I every cabin there is 2 study table, 2 chairs, 2 wardrobe, and 2 book shelfs. Alson with dress hangers. The hostel is the best

Admission

First we have to appear in entrance exam called IMU CET. We need to register from IMU website. It is a computer based exam, but we have to physical go to an exam center and give the exam there on their computer. The syllabus for the exam is class 11 & 12 Phy, chem, maths, english, and reasoning and aptitude, all the requirements is mentioned in the IMU website. After exam is cleared we will get rank based and if we are qualified then we need to choose which college we need. If we belong to Sc/ST Or obc we will have some concession. This exam is conducted once in a year in the month of june Or July, it is a average exam. Reservation befinifits is also available. If we are qualified then all the admission procedures will be send to ous through mail, and it will be given in the IMU site also.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty are well trained and experienced, most of them are sailors who have been captain for years, and have more experience and practical knowledge to the subject. Faculties are friendly and cooperative,.The shipping related subjects are mostly taught by captains.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed this degree for me to pursue higher studies in uk or foreign country to study cosmetics related field. So for that bsc chemistry degree must have But this curriculum doesn't teach something base to that I think so.. For further studies the teachers need improvement to teach certain topics some teachers didn't even prepare to study students and lab safety is not in the lab.Because of the teaching the portions are done in last minutes and often exams are difficult in major subjects so they need to improve their study methods and often approach students nicely..

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.

I chose Bsc electronics, it has an attractive curriculum and some of them are influenced me in some way. The facilities are well-known about the curriculum preparing and all. The current curriculum is good but it needs some changes. Include more practicals is one of my suggestion. Teaching methods are good it doesn't need any change. Exams are conducted by Kerala University, so the college can't do anything in main exams but the college will complete all the portions before the exam date it is sure.
