What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the location of our college, even though not very big of a campus but the location is very pleasing. View os the backwaters and 5 min walk to the beach is a experience not many people experience.
- Our campus holds various events that gives us chances to socialoze with other campus student and get to know about various companies and opportunity outside our campus. The campus placements are not that good but Kochi is an emerging campus.
- The level of teaching is very good, guest faculty as well as the permanent faculty are very friendly and supportive which gives us opportunity to interact more and get our minds out which helps us to understand concepts easily.
Dislikes
- Not much facilities as per required for any merchant navy collage, but hope to get to see many new things in the future as Kochi Campus is an emerging campus, i am shure it will have its golden days too.
Course Curriculum Overview
The main reason of me taking this course was the pride of the uniform and the challanges we experience everyday, the discipline and the everyday activities. As a defence aspiring vandidate i find this course as closes to the defence industry for people that have failed their dream of joining the aremed forces. And also the money
Placement Experience
The placement of our collage are better as our collage has less student which gives a relax mindset to the mamangnment that not many people are left to place. In our collage gurls get placed in first year itself as the act of SYNERGY girls recruitment. For boys as well. Many good companies enroll in this collage.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for odd semesters is 122000+30000, for additional charges including collage dorm fees, hostel dining fees. For even semesters is 122000. The average fee structure for three years is 875000 for BSc(Nautical Science) Cadets. Tution fees is 30000 with caution fees as 10000 and registration and admission fees as 30000. Compulsory for all categories. The other categories are provided with scholarship opportunities each year, especially for SC/ST. State boards like Maharashtra gives completely scholarship to SC/ST students including IMU(Synergy) as well. People placed in synergy get 100000, scholarship, especially girls as per the government of INDIA.
Campus Life
Overall i am happy with my campus life, made new friends got to know more about the world learned time management and independent life. These things will help he in my future career as well as the life on ship is not that easy and not to be wasted.
Admission
I choose thos collage because of desperation, IMU has other very good collages but because of my rank in the entrance i was unable to opt for different collage. But after spending some quality time i understand that this collage is not as bad.
Faculty
The student to faculty ratio is 1:40 but as the expertise of faculty is good, the rest is managable. The course structure keeps on changing as per the IMO fixtures that gets released every 3 years, but still the course is divided into various experience that make cadets sea ready. Each year brings us new challanges, new subjects regarding seamanship observation and practices. The exam system works on the basis of time particularity, like each sem is 90 days with particular hours given to each subject, and until each time limit is met, classes continue. My favourite faculty is Capt. Ranjit sir who served his 25 years into sailing and got retired from MERSERK, he teaches Chart work and Cargo handling. He is my most liked guest faculty because of the experience he shares with us about hus sailing days which guves us an idea of what we are about to experience and get our hands into.
