Remarks

I enjoyed my stay in college. Our college is one of the top college in North Karnataka. The people I met in Bijapur are wonderful. I learnt a lot from college, professors and my dear friends.

Entrance Preview

You can get the admission through GATE exam. The college was established in 1980. Only merit students get seat here. The demand in the industry of mechanical is useful. By doing mechanical we can work in industry, public sectors, government services and defence.

Course Curriculum Overview

Very good mechanical. Practicals are normally conducted by students only. College is having a research center. CFD, Automation, management subjects are taught as electives.

Internships Opportunities

Internship provided by college was moderate. College conducted vocational training classes. It was good experience to do internship. Stipend amount was less.

Placement Experience

Placement was moderate. 50 % of students got placed in companies like Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra, Cognizant, Mindtree, IBM etc. The average package was around 3 lpa.

College Events

Technical events such as Paper presentation, technical quiz, project exhibition was conducted. Some National level events were conducted. Organizational contributed to the events. Student used to organise and participate in the events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

If you get the admission through GATE and merit seat, the fees is very much affordable. My fees was Rs. 17500 per year. I have completed my MTech in Rs. 70000

Fees and Financial Aid

SC/ST scholarship was given to students. Yes I got the ST scholarship. For educational loan college used to provide documents.

Campus Life

In extracurricular activities college provided us the sports facilities and cultural. We participate in football, cricket, volleyball, kho-kho, etc in zonal and interzonal level. Singing, dance, drama, mime were the cultural activities conducted in college.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel rooms are very good and food quality is also very good. You can eat unlimited food in hostel. Fees is reasonable.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni are supportive. College conducts alumni meet every year. Alumni help in contribution of placement, research etc for students

Exam Structure

Chill culture in the college. We enjoyed going to college and we never felt any pressure or stress during our college days

Faculty

Highly experienced faculty and good subject knowledge was provided to us. Average teaching experience of professors was around 20 years.

A mini heaven on earth called NITK

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.
