Remarks

The management is good and is always responsive to the student needs. A lot of the things in the college is student run so there is less interaction of ordinary students with the management. Every thing is done through the SAC (Students Activity Committee).

Entrance Preview

For me It was the JEE-Mains Rank that determined the admission to the college. I got around 130 in JEE Mains and 95.8% in Boards that gave me a rank of 18121. I just managed to get into the college. I guess there are only 2-3 people below me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is excellent. There is plenty of practical assignments wherever required and a lot of theoretical assignment depending on the course you take. The course is designed is a way that makes you understand and apply the concepts rather than just mug it up and reproduce in the exams.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, we have a mandatory internship for 6 months which accounts for 20 credits towards the final evaluation. The college arranges for this internship. The avg stipend is around 20000-30000 pm.

Placement Experience

4

The placements are good. I think we have a 100% placement record. Companies range from IBM, Fiberlink, Amazon, Morgan Stanly etc with an avg package around 15 lakhs pa. For more stats you have to reach out to the placement officer of our college.

College Events

3.5

This was primarily a MTech college which means that the focus is more on studies and research and very less importance is given to cultural events. We do have semnars and conferences in the college from time to time. We have an annual intra college sports fest called the Spandan. This is the most awaited event of the year.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not availed any loan or scholarships. But we do have a scholarship schemes based on need based or merit based.

Campus Life

4

We have students from all over the country. A majority of the student come from andhra and Telangana, the gender ratio is about 1:1.5 ie girls:boys ratio. Political standpoint, economic status etc mean nothing inside the campus. everyone is welcomed, feels at home inside the college.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel is very good we have new hostel which has 7 floors. Except the 1st and 2nd year students, every one gets a single room here. The facilities are good, we have multiple badminton courts, basket ball courts, a multi purpose hall, musical fountains. The mess food comparing to other engineering colleges is very good.

Alumni/Alumna

We have a good alumni network there are helpful you can always ask them questions regarding what to do (during placements etc).

Exam Structure

The exam structure is defined by the professor. We have practicals, the normal mid-terms, end terms. Some of the courses just have class tests that are used for the final grading. Some courses just have a term paper that constitutes 60% of the grade and the rest is class participation. Or just a project accounts for your entire grade in the course.

Faculty

5

The faculty is extraordinary. Every one of them has a PHd from a good reputed university. The are always ready to help you when you have some problems regarding the course. They teach in a way that makes sure everyone understands the concepts. They have industry experience that allows them them to mentor us to face real life problems in the industry.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.

Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. Since most of the students go for higher studies from IISc hence, you will see the placement percentage to be low. Personality I am also going for higher studies.
