Experience through words

I had chosen this as this stream helps me decide both the product based companies aswell as the service based. Corona was the major obstacle which led to less practical learning and more of theoretical. We didn't get hands on experience for the basics and in the later sem the equipments were not in proper condition. They need to give more practical knowledge along with the theory and give proper hands on experience in order to help the students placed in product based companies.

Many top MNC's come to the college. Recently the placement opportunities has increased when compared to our batchs.Companies like TCS, Wipro, IBM, Infosys, SLK, Mphasis etc had given us the opportunity. The average package offer was 3.5lpa or 4lpa. The highest package known to me was 10lpa for a CS student not for us. The placements begins either at the end of 6th sem or in the beginning of 7th sem. Almost 60-70% of us were placed by the end of graduation but due to recession the onboarding was very late. Waited for more than a year to get onboarded.

The overall fees was around 80k + 30k which is the college development fees for the first year alone and then only the government fees. The management fees was 1,50,000/year. They also have many categories like SNQ quota, SC/ST quota etc. Fees is very low for these quotas when compared to government fees.

There is a cultural club and sports team as well. The cultural team is created by taking the auditions. The cultural team takes part in the youth fests held in different colleges or different places. They grabbed many trofies in cultural fests. There will be fresher and farewell and one event for all that is Sambram. Library has all the texts required and there are department libraries aswell. There will be inter branch sports competition. No much smart classes. Events are now improved and increased compared to our batch.

I had applied to autonomous college as well as VTU. I had chances to get to other colleges too but as this college in my hometown only my parents preferred this college over the far away colleges. I got the government seat in the first round itself for this college so I opted this and stepped out from the next rounds.

Faculty is good. Some lectures are friendly and help students understand by being a student along with a student. Some lectures are too strict when it comes to study and gives less priority when it comes to cultural. Helps student understand the topic but least bothered about cultural events. During our college days we didn't had any technical fest which I feel is necessary for the students. Being a VTU college exams are not that easy to crack.

There is no gym but there is canteen. There are 2 small canteens and one big. We would go the seminar hall or the library building to bunk the classes. Or just go to the first year block as our department lecturers rarely visit there. There are restrictions for the hostel students for their enter and exit. 8pm is the time to report.
