Likes

I like the teacher student relationship. Here you never feel alone.If you have no friend.Teachers are always with you to help.Seniors are also very helpful.After an interval of time they will be like a friend even better an elder brother of you.
I like the friend circle.Friends are also very helpful cooperative.If you don't understand a particular thing,your friend will help you to understand.
The campus is very big and lots of playgrounds are available here.

Dislikes

Hostel rooms are not good. The rooms are small in size and especially the bathroom is very dirty and it emits bad smell.
The foods provided in hostel is not good in taste and health also.The amount of food is provided to the student is very low which can detoriate your health.
You can face certain amount of ragging here in first year.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen this course because this gives us more benifit in terms of getting a job in product based company like google ,amazon etc.Also i have a goad to be the best coder of India.So i choose IT. Faculty : student the ratio is like:- 1:30 All of the faculty is well educated . Most of them have completed phd and have done masters in their domain. First year exams are very easy but in second year it is too tough to score a good cgpa in semester exam.So you have to be enough serious to get 8+ cgpa.

Internships Opportunities

In cse,it or ece department you can get job easily in tcs,wipro,amazon etc.Mostly you will be offered for software developer,web designer,machine learning expert etc valuable posts.For getting good internships you have to do some project at that topics in which you have experties to add and maintain a good resume.

Fees and Financial Aid

Mainly SVMCM is available and if your family income is less than 2 lakh per annum, you will get it.I also have got it.But if you get supply in any exam in semester,you will not get scholership anymore.The amount is 60k per annum.So your tution fee and almost hostel fees will be covered in this. Currently there is no chance of fees hike.The tution and hostel fees will be almost same as previous. If you dont get svmcm you can apply for another national scholerships also,but getting more than one government scholership is not possible. You can get job from tcs,cognizant,wipro , media.net ,amazon etc company with stipend if you have enough skill to achieve it.

Campus Life

The campus of JGEC is very large compared to Jadavpur.Your can get natural beauty and lots of playgrounds to enjoy. Name of annual fest is JECLAT in which there will be lots of events in which anyone can participate and grab a prize.There is also another event named sristi which also is very interesting. There is a large library in college which is very old and many books are available here.All types of text books are available here.No journals are provided from college(i dont know). Amenities are not modern type.It is very old.You will see blackboard and chalk infront of you in class. Cricket,football,volley,batminton all are available here. No social groups are available.

Admission

This course is really amazing.You have to score under 3000 rank in wbjee to get admitted in IT department in our college in wbjee. There is also reservation facility like cast reservation in there.But no other type of reservation is possible in our college. No,i dont feel any type of improvement in the admission process.It's very simple for you.

ELIGIBILITY FOR CAMPUS PLACEMENT: At Brainware University students generally become eligible for campus placement from the final years of their course. For many programs placemnet preparation sactivities such as aptitude training, soft skills development, resume building, mock interviews begin earlier, you can say that these activities are incoporated from the 1st semester itself. COMAPINES VISIT: Several reowned and reputed compaines from IT, management,healthcare,media, and core sectors visits the university for campus recruitment. Placement drive include companines from domains such as software services, consulting,education,sales digital marketing etc. For my domain CSE AIML companies like Infosys,Amazon,Cognizant,Adobe etc visits. Each year multiple students receive job offers through campus drives and some students also secure multiple offers depending on their skills and performance. HIGHEST AND AVERAGE PACKAGE OFFERED: The highest package offered varies by course and recruiter and also with top performing students receive highest packages based on their role requirements and skills. It range from 12 LPA to 45 LPA. The average package offered to students is competitive for a private university and aligns with industry standards for entry level roles. These generally range from 3.5 to 8 LPA. PRECENTAGE OF STUDENTS GETTING PLACED: Placement outcome mostlky depend on academic performance, attendance, communication skills, technical knowledge, and participation in training sessions. Placement was average if you have good background knowledge so you will definitely get placed. After 7th semester companies started coming and also there is different criteria for all companies like some company required more than 8 CGPA that completely dependent on company preferences. The placement cell of my college is very strong.From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements.There are around 50 companies visited in the college such as TCS,Intel. Microsft. Deloitte,etc.205 students are placed in TCS in year 2019. 415 students are placed in campus placement last year. Maximum CTC was 25 lacs/pa and average CTC was 5.5 lacs/pa previous year.After Jadhavpur University,the average CTC of the college is higher than IEM. Above 95% placements for IT,CSE and ECE students.There are around 55-60% placements in other department.My plans are doing some great things after getting the degree.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869.
