Likes

College fests and events are great. There is opportunity for every student
College name has a great value and it is prestigious to be part of that institute.
Campus location is very good and in centre of the city.

Dislikes

Some faculty do not put in efforts in teaching
Only method to discipline students is by cutting attendance.
The tables and chairs are very uncomfortable.

St Xavier's college Kolkata, if among top5 colleges in India for Commerce. Some faculty are excellent with great experience in teaching. There are 2 exams in each semester, internal and semester final. Exam is of standard difficulty.

Class Size: 90Course Fees: INR 120000 per year

Internships Opportunities

To get college degree, internship of atleast 2 months is compulsory. Students can find the jobs themselves or through internship opportunities of the college. Companies like Zomato also give summer internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

Campus placement is good compared to other colleges in Kolkata. Average package for students are around 5 lakhs per annum. Highest package can go upto 21-22 lakhs per annum. Many students persue other courses and do not go through college placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee for B.Com Morning is approximately 120000 per year. There has not been much fees hike since I joined the college. Financial assistance and campus jobs are not available in this college. External financial assistance can be taken.

Campus Life

There are many clubs relating to art, commerce, consulting, entrepreneurship, sports, etc. college ocassionaly holds fests. Clubs organise events frequently for students to participate. College library is great and has AC study room.

Admission

In the year 2021, Admission was solely based on the marks of 12th boards. There was no other entrance test or interview, as it was the first batch after COVID. Online application with your marks and details had to be filled and then if the marks met the cutoff criteria, you could pay the fee and get admission.

Placement Experience:

Idk but i guess students become eligible from 2nd or 3rd sem. Idk what is the company visited but the placements are very good i heard that, avg package varies 2.4 lpa I guess. Right now i am doing internship so as of now i don't have plans.

The best college for professional course students

Placement Experience:

Various companies come to this college for on campus placement Average package= 1000000 Highest package=2200000 Various multi national company and other big and small companies visit this college for on campus placement. Most of the students also get placement opportunities whether large or small package The opportunity is given to all degree whether it be bcom or bcom hons . Any student who does not get placed can easily use the degree to get a high paying off campus placements and to go to any good college or stay in this college for their post graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is backdated and should be improvised as it doesn't give any exposure of present industry knowledge. The frequency of exams is that exams are held after 6 months on semester basis and are easy to pass and majority of the students pass this semester easily.

Decent government college which needs to improve.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is obviously outdated and the knowledge we get through it, is bookish and does not apply to present industry methods. This way we are given no exposure to the real life industry knowledge. The exams are held on semester basis after every 6 months and are easy and manageable.

Quite an Average Government College which lacks in infrastructure, faculty, and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.

I thought of pursuing engineering and therefore have WBUJEE and JEE both. SXC is invaluable to me!

Admission i tried at almost all the colleges of Kolkata. Goenka was also in my mind as there the classes are in the morning and even St Xavier's Private University as well. SXC is an old pedigree!

There are no entrances like the Delhi University which I gave as well. Here admission are based on 12th percentage and the subjects that we have had. So, for general category in 2025 admission 92.7% from any board was the cut-off. For OBC it was 81 and for SC/ST students it was 73%....Read More
