Detailed review of GCECT, Kolkata

I always had a passion for Learning Computers and softwares. I also had a keen interest in computer programs. Faculties are few but correspondingly students are also few, only 40 in each batch of each department. Most faculties hold a PHD degree and are great in their respective fields. Exams are well conducted here with a passing number of 50 marks out of 100 marks

Onwards 7th semester students are eligible for placements. Ceramic Technology department really shines in this factor. Their placements are above a 100% with most of them having a PPO in hand during their internships. CSE/IT students opt for GATE/CAT or try Off-campus opportunities. Though most of them get a good packages somehow. Highest on campus package for Non-core is 8LPA and lowest is 3.5LPA and for Ceramic/Core it is 12LPA and 3LPA respectively. Almost 70% of CSE/IT students gets placed. My plan is to opt for Masters after getting my BTech from here.

Fees are affordable as it's a State Government Engineering College. The tuition fee of CSE is Rs. 6000 per semester. Scholarship like SVMCM are also available. Financial assistance for needy are always there.

The name of the annual tech fest is KarmaTek and the annual fest is Jagriti they usually take place in October April respectively. Huge number of Books are available in the library and can you taken with a library card. Classrooms are decent and airy. Each Classroom have a projector too. Sports activities like intra and inter football tournament and cricket tournaments take place frequently with chess, carrom,table tennis etc. A tech club is there , a quiz club is present, GDSC is also present. Annual college magazine named Pratibhimbha is a cherry on top.

We have to score decent in WBJEE exam to get into this college. A rank within 4000 can fetch you a seat in CSE department. Admission procedure is purely transparent. Decentralised counseling conducted by college also happens if seats remain vacant.
