Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because its currently high demanding in the market. The faculty and the student ratio is vary in every department but its enough actually. The faculty members are helpfull and well qualified. Total there is 8 semesters and in between every sem there is 2-4 internal exam the toughness of the exam varry every year.

Class Size: 63Course Fees: INR 30000 per year

Placement Experience

If the students are skillfull enough they can get a job or placement in any year . Mainly the on campus jobs strats from 3 rd year . The highest pakage is very good and the avarage pakage is also well paid. Mainly I will try to get a job after completetion of the course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of study in this college is low for all department except Information Technology. but its worth it if you study well and get a good placement. There is SVMCM and if your financial condition is not good you can get a Half-fees or Full-fees Scholarship by the college itself.

Campus Life

There is one main annual fest called JECLAT and the name of the tech fest is SRISTI. There are many books available in the college library. There is a lot of clubs in the college like music club, sports club, dance club, coding club, cyber sequrity club and many more.

Hostel Facilities

There are total 5 hostels in the college 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4 th year and ladies hostel. here point to be noted that there is only one hostel for girls. The rooms and the meal quality is kind of avarage overall .

Admission

At first you have to appear in the WBJEE exam and have to sequre a good rank to get admission to the college. the application form of this exam will be provided every year as per notice in wbjee.nic.in - in this website. After sequring a good rank you have to participate in online councilling in the same website. After the councilling you will get a department and according to your rank and the current year's cutoff. The admission date will be provided by the college. There are total 6 branches or department in the college CSE, IT, ECE, EE, ME, CE .

The course curriculum is very relevant and useful for us.They teach data structures algorithm that is very important for college placements and they also teach os, networks and other usefull things that is very important in computer science.They provide very high quality labs and the whole college has a good internet connection.Tecahers are very educated and good they helps us and teaching in very good way .The exams time schedule is also very good if there is any problem the college will change the exam date that is really a good thing.

Story of hit

Placement Experience:

The campus placement from recently past years is slightly good . Like tcs infosys cognizant ibm Capgemini like companies comes every year with good placement and capsitech gives you internship from 3 year . From 7th sem you are eligible for campus placement in 2025 the avg package is 5-7 lpa and Highest lpa is 75lpa . My plan is getting good job in good company

Placement Experience:

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
