Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is not updates atleast for the first year.Subjects like ecology should be removed.Instead it should contain AI/Ml Blockchain, cyber security etc new world things for all students atleast in the first sem. This would help them to understand what to pursue for the rest 3 years.Regarding the core subjects it also needs some revamp.Teaching methods need more efforts, less theory based and more practical approach may solve the issue. The frequency of exam is every 2 month on an average and the timing is kept pretty good. The difficulty is set above average which will push you to think out of your comfort zone.Overall the curriculum prepared you for the real world at a decent level not too good and not too bad.

Internships Opportunities

2

Different companies come for different roles in internship.Like JPMC come for software engineer intern in college Microsoft for sde intern Similarly oracle pwc accenture Capgemini tcs wipro infosys uber texas instrumental cisco adobe.

Placement Experience

3

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft. The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles, finance in some cases. The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

Fees and Financial Aid

Ok so students with less than 1 lakh per annum ilfamily income get full tuition fee waiver. They only need to bear the hostel and mess fees along with some other college fees.Roughly the expense come around 4 lakh for 4 years.Sc/St have already have their tuition fee wabed fully irrespective of their family income.Regarding scholarship home state students get swami vivekanand scholarship subject to they fulfill the criteria mentioned there. The amount is 60000 per year

Campus Life

4

The annual cultural fest is Recstacy and annual tech fest is Aarohan. The annual food fest is names Recrave.Recstacy is generally held around January end or February end Aarohan in the mid October or sometimes in mid March.Recrave generally in mid september.E-Summit Is late February or early March. There are many books and journals available in our library and a book work would be the most happy person in there.Withun the classroom we have projectors , ACs, Microphones and loud speaker to address a large crowd and good seating places .Access to drinking water and washroom is available as well. The sports and extra curricular activities are great. With provisions for Inter NIT, a gym basketball court badminton court and 2 big grounds. There are around 20 student run clubs in the campus and they have a great impact on student life. They bring events , fun , excitement with them further help us to upskill and change us into a new person.

Hostel Facilities

3

We have 3 people sharing room. Each room have 2 fans,3 lamps,3 study tables,3 beds and 3 almirahs. The here is I would say above average and good. Although the taste keeps fluctuating but overall it is good.We are served fish egg and chicken 3 times a week. We are also given special dinner every Wednesday and ideal dinner once a month.Gulab jamun is given 1 time a week and chole bhature ,pav bhaji, poha ar served in breakfast. We are also given uttapam once a week and chowmein or maggie once a week in breakfast. The registration process is very simple through the hostel website and it is quite affordable costs around 5000 per month including food.If I had rented a pg I would have stayed in muchipara or benchity in durgapur.

Admission

I applied to IIEST Shibpur and was getting ECE there but I chose this college because of its brand name, infrastructure and placement which are all way above shibpur. No I did not get any rejection form college I applied for. So the admission process is simple. You need to crack Jee Mains with a great rank to reach here. There after you need to go through the Jossa counselling and if you get a seat here you need to confirm and pay initially some fees to get a seat in this college. The overall admission experience was very much smooth because of the whole process being shifted to online and thus students do not have much difficulty.

Faculty

2

In our college the academic is given a good priority along with sports and cultures. In a year we have 2 semesters. One is the odd sem starting from July and ending in November.Other starts from January and ends on April. For each sem we have mid sem end sem and CA(Continuous assessment). The CA consists of around 15 marks Mid sem of 25 marks and end sem of 60 Marks. Thus regular performance in class is mandatory for a good grade. The faculty to student ratio is not that good and thus have a scope of improvement. Many faculties are too much friendly and approachable while some are not.I think faculties should grow out from their old schooled technique of teaching and become more modern and approachable for students. This would surely ensure a healthy place for the students holistic development.

Night Life

2

The nightlife is also great witha lot of things to offer There are various cafe where you can spend time with your friends.Nescafe ,Techno Cafe , Winder Cafe etc etc .Library is there and it is fully air conditioned with lifts in it.The hostel in time is 11:30 pm and campus intime is 10:30 pm.Famous hangout spots are duck pond , jhoops. Although these places are not that much safe during night and it is not advisable to roam during late night .

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else
