Like availability of books, teacher's are good, and seniors were also good they'll help you a lot if any thing you need but you should study well and focus otherwise it'll be your loss just because of autonomous clg it'll be less suffer

Poor infrastructure in college campus and lack of book's available in library
Faculties are not collaborative with internship
Lack of lab supliments and maximum of them are broken

I chosen this because I got I'm studying engineering as my back plan. I have different plans after completing by btech. In engineering boy's ratio are much higher than girl's and faculty members are good and teaching method is also good not soo good but average. We have 2 semester per year and have internals lab exams you'll pass easily not soo tough

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 5201 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

For civil engineering something like 90000 in the starting of admission them you have to pay 5201 per year for you course only. I didn't get any scholarship because my father is an rly employee, but there are many scholarships you can apply

Campus Life

Annual fest - JECLAT biggest fest of north bengal clgs Tech fest - Sristi Books are available but limited Yes we have sport's and extracurricular activities for girl's and boy's Social clubs like you'll find wavezz, calliphony, art's,and there are many more

Admission

I appeared for wb jee and got 25000 rank and then i got chance to study in jgec in civil engineering dept, Yes there is also have reservation benefits but still you have to score good ,but before coming here for admission you have to prepare all documents otherwise you have to run around. Yes, I need some improvement during admission process like if any students wants to change their thoughts about changing course during admission time they should give them detailed information. Otherwise everything is good

Story of hit

Placement Experience:

The campus placement from recently past years is slightly good . Like tcs infosys cognizant ibm Capgemini like companies comes every year with good placement and capsitech gives you internship from 3 year . From 7th sem you are eligible for campus placement in 2025 the avg package is 5-7 lpa and Highest lpa is 75lpa . My plan is getting good job in good company

Placement Experience:

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
