Course Curriculum Overview
Journalism is a dynamic course, and most of the curriculum involves outdoor or indoor activity-based learning, rather than just your normal bookish approach. We have subjects like advanced photography, It's fun. There are a total of 60 students in 3rd year journalism course. The students are divided into two sections (A and B) with 30 students per section. We have professors as young as 27-28 years old as well as those who are in their 50s. Words that describe them: Extremely talented, very professional, know what they are teaching. The younger professors feel like friends and the older ones are also bearable. One good thing about the faculties is that they encourage open-minded discussions. The exams are held every 4-5 months. Passing is easy, though one will have to work hard if one needs a good cgpa.
Internships Opportunities
My professor told me about a website called Internshala, where I applied as a content creator and translator. I was offered 15,000 rs. as a stipend after 3 months. My role was to write a 1500-word document on any random movie of the slasher genre that they got to decide. Or I was told to translate the written works of other people that they provided, which was mostly a movie summary.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had to shell out 30,000 in my first year, then it reduced to 25,000 in my second year, and then I had to pay 29,000 again in my 3rd year. There are active scholarship programs for meritorious students having financial difficulties. There was a job fair last year where a lot of companies came to recruit interns, but most of them were not paying any stipend.
Campus Life
There is a basketball court which serves as a makeshift stage and venue for functions and fests. It's an all-girls college. And it has two buildings, 3 floors each connected by a corrider-like structure. And there is a parking space. That's it. That's all when it comes to its structure. We have a very famous department-specific fest every year around April, called comscape. Besides that, there is an annual fest called Feria as well. You'll find almost everything in the library, but it's mostly for reference purposes, so not every book can be borrowed. Large, spacious classrooms with plenty of sunlight and air. Air conditioning only in the staff room and computer labs. We have a separate floor in the B block for sports activities. Besides that, there is always something fun going on in the college, club festivities, club competitions, etc. They have clubs for every interest.
Admission
My admission was based on merit basis, i.e., on the basis of my class 12th percentage. I found the application form on the official website of Delhi University. No reservation benefit is availed. Mine was a late admission, and I got the seat when someone left it to go to another college. It would be better if they had a more attentive admin dedicated specifically to enrollment-related queries, otherwise, it becomes very confusing.
