Likes

College atmosphere is good with no disturbance.
Library of the college is excellent and you can borrow books for full semester from there only without any charges.
Teacher's are very helpful and co operative.

Dislikes

Placement cell need to improve to provide at least 40% placement to students.
Administrative department is not cooperative.

B.Com. (H) from Goenka College is the dream of every commerce student in East India due to its reputation and teaching faculty. Faculty is also great as this is a govt. college, teachers have to pass govt. examination to become eligible for professors. There is semester-wise exam happening twice in a year.

Class Size: 90Course Fees: INR 1200 per year

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are available for marketing or sales work but not for accounting, auditing, finance and taxation fields. And also internship opportunities are not available to all students. Generally, there is internship with no stipends but with certificates only.

Placement Experience

Intership opportunities are available from the third semester. Campus placements happen in the fifth and sixth semesters. Very few companies visit for campus placements and around 20 students only get placed. The reason for low campus placement is also that students after B.Com want to pursue other professional courses like CA, CS, CMA or MCOM.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are minimal as compared to other colleges. Tuition fees are Rs. 85 per month and one one-time admission fee is Rs. 100. Examination fees depend upon Calcutta University which is generally Rs. 150 per semester. It provides state govt. Swami Vivekananda Scholarship to eligible students. Around 20 students only get placed for full-time job out of 550 students with an average salary 3.5 lacs

Campus Life

For morning students there is not a good campus life but for day students there exists a campus life. Note: Views may differ for everyone. The college arranges different extracurricular activities. In the month of October or November, the students union conduct a fest named 'Quest' where all students participate and DJ and singers come.

Admission

Admission is on a purely Merit basis. Usually cut-off for General Category students is 93% and for SC/ST/OBC cut-off is around 80% to 84%. The application form is available in ug.collegeadmission.in/Goenka/. Or in Goenka college website i.e. goenkacollege.net . Application form fees are nil.

Placement Experience:

Idk but i guess students become eligible from 2nd or 3rd sem. Idk what is the company visited but the placements are very good i heard that, avg package varies 2.4 lpa I guess. Right now i am doing internship so as of now i don't have plans.

Students become eligible for campus placements after the 5th semester. A few companies like TCS visit our college every year. The average package offered is around 100000 PA I want to go for higher studies after the degree but I want some real life work experience too.

Various companies come to this college for on campus placement Average package= 1000000 Highest package=2200000 Various multi national company and other big and small companies visit this college for on campus placement. Most of the students also get placement opportunities whether large or small package The opportunity is given to all degree whether it be bcom or bcom hons . Any student who does not get placed can easily use the degree to get a high paying off campus placements and to go to any good college or stay in this college for their post graduation.

The course curriculum is backdated and should be improvised as it doesn't give any exposure of present industry knowledge. The frequency of exams is that exams are held after 6 months on semester basis and are easy to pass and majority of the students pass this semester easily.

Decent government college which needs to improve.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is obviously outdated and the knowledge we get through it, is bookish and does not apply to present industry methods. This way we are given no exposure to the real life industry knowledge. The exams are held on semester basis after every 6 months and are easy and manageable.

Quite an Average Government College which lacks in infrastructure, faculty, and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.

Goenka college of commerce and business administration is the second best college in Kolkata and the best college under Calcutta University. Hence it has a brand value. Proud to be Goenkan

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years....Read More
