Course Curriculum Overview

1

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Total course fees is 10,500rs which is divided into 8 semesters,i.e., 4 years. Registration and admission fees were 2000rs and books are needed to be purchased separately in our own cost. Exam fees are to be paid separately and assignment expenses are to be paid on our own. Other than this we don't have any other hidden charge. Yes, we are also eligible to apply in a state scholarship named Swami Vivekananda merit cum means which is a state scholarship given by West Bengal government. The amount of scholarship is 12,000 per year which includes college fees, hostel fees, books, stationery and mobile or laptop. Other than that we can also apply in other private scholarship or central scholarship if we want. My batchmates also pay the same amount of fees in all categories.

Campus Life

1

There is no social life as such in this college. No festivals are held as such other than freshers and farewell. Sports and extracurricular activities are not there as such other than just the NCC Drill. Talking about college societies or groups then there are none other than the college union group which are also divided in political parties.

Admission

I had to forcefully choose this college and course as I had no options. I couldn't afford going in large cities or studying in private colleges. Talking about the admission process then it's pretty simple. Students need to apply for admission through a state government website by West Bengal named WBCAP and eligibility criteria is that students need to bring atleast 60% and above in their 12th.

Faculty

2

There are very limited faculty members in my department. Literally there are only 2 teachers for all the subjects who do teach well but still lack somewhere in different subjects knowledge. Talking about them, they are sometimes strict and mostly lenient. There are 8 semesters in my course and are pretty manageable if being prepared sincerely. The course curriculum is outdated and no present industry topics are there.

Interview Experience

1

No, we didn't have to give any interviews for the admission process. It was a direct admission by physical verification of documents uploaded. We just had to apply in WBCAP website for admission which is a west bengal state website for admission into government colleges with merit. After the merit list was out, we were allotted our colleges according to our preferences.

Night Life

1

There is no night life as such in this college. The college shuts at 5 pm and all the canteen and library are shut too. We don't have gym or public area or cafeteria. Hostel timings are also very flexible and lenient. Talking about any famous places near my college then it's none.

Other Applied Colleges

Birpara College | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}

Because I thought Alipurduar College where I am currently studying is better than this college.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.
