Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya is a torch bearer of a new wave in Agricultural Education. The university offers higher education in some most important fields of agriculture in UG, PG and doctoral levels.
- It had come into existence as a satellite campus by the state government of West Bengal in 1979. The main focus of this campus was growing the productivity of 6 northern districts of West Bengal i.e. Jalpaiguri, Malda, Darjeeling, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur and Coochbehar.
- ICAR or Indian Council of Agricultural Research has accredited the campus along with increased development support. At the same time, National Agricultural Research Project (NARP) has initiated to give recognition Pundibari as headquarter of Terai-agro climatic zone of West Bengal.
- To develop horticultural facilities the state government elevated the campus to a complete university in 2000 under West Bengal act XX 2000 which covers whole North Bengal.
Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya is also known as North Bengal Agricultural University - After its inception a huge changes have come in the agriculture and horticulture crops production, productivity and cropping pattern of North Bengal.
- A new department of technology has been initiated with the accreditation of All India Council of Technical Education from 2005-2006 academic sessions which offers a B.Tech Degree of 4 Years in Agricultural Engineering.
- UBKV has achieved recognition for its well-trained faculties and excellent education in Agriculture and Horticulture field. Its perfect environment of education with a green campus helps students to complete their study.

Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalya (UBKV) offers admission to various UG, PG, and Research programs in different disciplines of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Forestry. The candidates can apply for admission online by visiting the official website of the university. The application process starts in June every year. The university conducts an entrance exam for admission to M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, while for admission to B.Sc., the candidates are selected on the basis of their score in 10+2. The application fee for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs is INR 500 and INR 300, respectively. The university prepares a different merit list for each program.
For Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV), Cooch Behar UG admission, the dates for offline counselling and physical verification have not been officially declared yet on the university website. Earlier merit lists and counselling info were released, but the exact start date for offline counselling and document verification is still “to be notified later” by the university.
The address/ location of UBKV (Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya) Cooch Behar is Pundibari, Kalarayerkuthi, West Bengal (about eleven kilometer North West of Cooch Behar).
UBKV Cooch Behar does not offer B.Sc. in Agri Business Management to the students. There are other specialisations offered under B.Sc. which are Agriculture and Horticulture.
Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya admission will start soon for the 2024-25 session. For most of the UG and PG courses, UBKV will begin the application process in June 2024.
Candidate must have Passed Higher Secondary (H.S.) or equivalent Examination with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate along with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Agriculture / Horticulture or Vocational Agriculture / Horticulture with the above combination as elective subjects.

The admission to the MSc Agriculture course is based on the score obtained in the entrance exam conducted by the university. You can apply online from the official website of the college.
