Proud to be Goenkan

Studying BCom honours in accountancy and finance from Goenka gives every student a huge benefit . Goenka is the only college in Kolkata that gives BCom honours in accountancy and finance degree along with a research degree it simply means if any student one to do an MBA in future he or she can complete the MBA degree in one year only. Having a research degree gives a huge advantage in comparison to students of other colleges who have no research degree along with their B.com degree. To get the research degree along with BCom honours degree one has to score more than 75% in each and every semester.

Currently, I am not eligible for internship opportunities as I am not in my final year yet but from my seniors, I have heard big companies like Deloitte, Tata etc have openly visited the college for campus placement and many of the students got internships as well as job opportunities from renowned companies.

Students become eligible for campus placement in the last year which is 7th and 8 semester one can apply for internship or job from 7th and 8th semester. The highest package offered was of 11 lakh so far. And the average package is 4 to 5 lakh per annum. Like most of the Goenkans I am also thinking of pursuing CA as a profession but for now I am focusing on my BCom degree and after my BCom degree I will complete my MBA from a good reputed college.

Fee for b.com hons accounting and finance for 4 years in total is 4090 , it is one of the most affordable govt college in West Bengal. After the declaration of call up list , 1010 rs is to be paid as admission fees . There are many scholarships available , students are guided by the faculty members it self , there are different scholarship for different categories, kanyashree for girls , Sheela kanoria foundation and many other scholarships are available under the govt scheme.

There are many fest, quest, programs, activities DJ nights etc are organised in the college. Freshers farewell parties are must along with it there are many small events to such a teacher's day celebration mostly in the month of November and December all the grand parties are organised in which big celebrities are even called for performances. Each and every classroom has one greenboard one white board good quality of benches most importantly it has projector which helps the student understand the concept virtually.

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years.

Mostly the faculty member are old aged teachers so sometimes it becomes quite difficult for students to interact with them teachers are very strict about their subjects and some teachers and not friendly at all. On the other hand there are some teachers who are very friendly with student but most of the friendly teachers are in morning session. All the teachers day proper classes and if classes are delayed or cancelled students are informed. Accountancy teachers are highly educated and professionals in their field.
