Remarks

Campus should be a little larger. There is constraint in room availability. Also the authorities are unsupportive when it comes to organizing something new in the college. Well there are both, pros and cons which keeps all the things balanced. The experience has been good so far and I got a chance to meet a lot of new people.

Entrance Preview

Delhi University doesn’t have any entrance as such. I just filled an online form. But then I didn’t know that I will land up in this college. I have a commerce family background and had eventually developed an interest in commerce and that is what made me choose the subjects I am studying. DU doesn't conduct interviews for admission. Only merit-based admissions take place and 12th class board cut-offs are required.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is really very nice. The syllabus is up to date and we study the latest curriculum pattern and hence can relate our studies to the real world. My electives are Economics. We weren’t given any options as such, the entire class was made to choose only one subject. Yes, there is focus on practical learning as we learn from the latest updated books and have skill enhancement subjects like e-commerce.

Internships Opportunities

No, College doesn't provide internships to its students so students have to fetch the internship on their own. Well, since students get the internships on their own, so average stipend cannot be commented upon. Some students prefer doing internship as they get to learn and gain experience about the field which they will work in future.

Placement Experience

4

Well, I am doing an undergraduate course and getting a decent placement with just an undergraduate degree is difficult. However, the placement opportunities available In the college are quite good. Seminars and training are regularly conducted for the students to prepare themselves for placement drive. I am not aware of the number of students selected. Some of the companies that came for placements are: NIIT, E&Y, etc.

College Events

4.5

College organised events- Annual Freshers party, Diwali Mela, Annual fest- Rhapsody and various departmental events. College authorities are a little unsupportive. Annual events footfall is about 1000-1200. Departmental event footfall is around 100-150.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes, the university fee is very affordable and that is the reason why it attracts a wide arena of students. My annual fee is about Rs. 7000 and that's very less when compared to the facilities we get in the college. Being a government college, the fee is less and facilities are more for the students.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as scholarship is considered, I don't think our college provides any. However, being a government university, some centrally run schemes must be available. I am not sure about it since I've not availed any.

Campus Life

3

Yes, opportunities are satisfactory. But a greater role is played by senior students than the College authority. If one utilizes all the opportunities nicely, then he/she can definitely discover his/her inner talent.

Hostel Facilities

4

The college didn’t have a hostel when I took admission. But then the foundation Stone was laid and its currently under construction. So, no comments on hostel. However, there are many PGs nearby college where students from other cities reside. Those rooms are available on double triple and even single sharing basis. Food is average in the PGs.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, our college does give us chances to interact with our Alumni in some way or the other. They are often invited to the seminars to give their views about the life outside the college. This certainly helps in the overall development of the college.

Exam Structure

DU follows two exam patterns, that are mid sem and end sem exams. In between, we do have assignment and projects through which, we are continuously evaluated. The exam culture was hence, a mixture, not too tiring and not easy to escape. Well, this was bound to happen in college because academically, we have more load.

Faculty

3.5

The teachers in the college are good. They aren’t much experienced as such but then they do provide us with solutions to problems. The standard of teaching is average. Mostly, the professors aren’t available to us for clearing doubts. Most of the teachers miss certain lectures and topics in the course. Well, that has been just my experience with the teachers, others might be having different opinions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Subjects like Law, Management, HRM and Economics really influence my choice for this course. The law and economics part was really something that garb my attention as well as excite me the most. It really helped in understanding HR policies in depth which helped me really world a lot. The curriculum should include more practical and technical subjects which will help in the corporate world too. The exam timings were usually 2 to 3 hours max. And the exam also doesn't come too hard to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum of Janki Devi Memorial College is quiet relevant and covers the important areas of the subject in a structured way one of the reasons I preferred this course was it is designed according to Delhi University standards and the syllabus is recognise and useful for higher studies the combination of theory papers skill enhancement courses and internal assessment help in building clear understanding of the subject. The curriculum helps in writing resources and critical thinking skills which are useful not only in exams but also for future academic and professional work at the same time, I feel that adding move practical sessions, workshop, or more project based learning with me the course more engaging and closed to Real world applications. Exams are held in the form of internal assessment during semester and final University exam at the end.Exams schedule is manageable and the difficult level is moderate.
