Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good and covers mostly all the important topics needed for the subject. The exams happen every semester and are not too tough if you study regularly. However, the curriculum can be better by adding some new and vast topics.
Internships Opportunities
There is a placement cell, Horizon, who look after these internships. Internships span multiple disciplines and companies like Deloitte, KPMG, Wipro, Zomato, ET, and Accenture. There is also a CFR Summer Internship Program.
Placement Experience
The placements were not so much for any other stream apart from the commerce stream. The highest package goes around 5-6 LPA. There are many internship opportunities, but not many for a job. But recently, the placements cell has been working on this and collaborating with many big companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I was in Maitreyi College, the annual fee depended on the course. For Humanities, I paid around Rs. 8000 per year, Commerce students paid around Rs. 9000, and Science fees went up to Rs.11000 per year. There was also an exam fee each year, which was usually between Rs. 600 and Rs. 700. Other than this, there were no extra fees from the college during my time. When I graduated, the hostel was not open yet, but now the college does have a hostel. Currently, the hostel fee is around 1 lakh 80 thousand per year, which includes the food. The fees have increased in recent years. For example, the yearly fees have increased to around Rs. 21,000 for B.Sc. About the scholarship, the college offers: 1. A freeship scheme for students whose family income is under 8 lakh. 2. There are also merit and sports quotas for eligible students.
Campus Life
The infrastructure was pretty decent. Although the washroom conditions were very bad. Leaking or broken taps. The societies were very good; it's a huge exposure to different activities just by being there in any society. The classroom has smart boards.
Admission
I chose this college because it was an all-girls college. I wanted to go to Miranda, but the cutoff there was too high, and I couldn't make it. The admission process was simple. We register on the DU UG portal, fill the application form. After the cutoff was announced, we were allotted colleges according to our percentage. After choosing the college from the option, we have to pay the required fee to secure our seat.
Faculty
The Faculty at Maitreyi is well-qualified and supportive. Most professors have either a PHD or are pursuing PHD. They teach using notes, smart boards, or the board. The course is of three years, with each year divided into 2 semesters. We have classes, practicals, presentations, or tests. The subject follows the Delhi University syllabus. For exams, 25% of our marks come from internal assessment and 75% from final exams.
Night Life
The campus is very beautiful because of the gardens. The library was the go-to place for everyone, maybe for study purposes or just being there for the AC. The famous hangout area is Satyaniketan. you will get cafes at every step you walk on.
Other Applied Colleges
