Course Curriculum Overview
I had a little interest in Computers in my higher secondary school so I opted for Computer Science but my interest in the subject grew during my sophomore year. We had 6-7 teachers in our department and they had good command over the subject they taught. In my college, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, we had only one section for BSc H Computer Science, so there were around 80 students in my class. The classrooms were big enough to fit us all. The teachers were all well qualified. A couple of them were Professors and the remaining were Lecturers. The exams were always on time and we got enough time to prepare.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies came in for offering internships in different fields like graphic designing, business analysis, business consulting, technology consultant, data analyst, project management, operation manager, associate, and many more profiles. However, I didn't go for the internships offered in the college because I did internships off-campus. But I think they were worth it. They also offered stipends, certificates, and LORs.
Placement Experience
Since, this college is a Commerce college and there is only one science course which is BSc Hons Computer Science, the placements for Computer Science are not so good. Several companies like TCS, PWC, Penguin International, Travelista, and Travclan came for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the first year, the fees were about 45000 INR. In the second year, the fees were increased to 48000 INR due to an increase in the number of subjects, and in the final year, it was back to 45000 INR. Considering the fact that the fees for all courses vary after every 1-2 years, the fees for the aspirants of this course might vary a little. There was a fee concession aid scholarship where you can apply and get financial aid in the form of a fee reduction. There were a few of other scholarships for the students who prove to be unremarkable in the academics or sports or in other cultural activities.
Campus Life
The campus life at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is fine. The crowd here is well polished and all from decent families. The fest month is around February and March. The events organized by various societies go throughout the year. The library here is pretty spacious and you can find every book you need covering all the subjects. There is also a decent space to read sitting in the library itself. The classrooms are well ventilated and there is a centralized AC system in every room of the College. The classrooms are equipped with a green board, a whiteboard, and a projector setup. There are almost 10+ sports facilities available. They have a Football ground, Cricket ground, Volleyball court, Basketball court, Cricket nets for practice, Lawn tennis court, table tennis room, and much more. The cultural and academic societies also keep it busy throughout. They organize different webinars and seminars on various social issues or student self-help topics.
Admission
The admission process was completely based on the cut-off of the 12th percentage and in the year 2020, there was no CUET but now every course intake is based on the CUET score. The merit list shows the rank according to the score and then each college under the University releases its own cutoff lists for each course in the respective college. Then students who have a percentile equal to or more than the cut-off can submit their application for that particular course. Every little detail is posted on the main website of the University of Delhi. All the forms and formalities can be found there.
Other Applied Colleges
Chandigarh University - [CU] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Computer Science)
The fees of this University is quite high and also since I am a resident of Delhi so I preferred graduation in my home time only.
