Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose to pursue a Master's in economics since I pursued it in Graduation and I have a keen interest towards the subjects. If you are someone with strong analytical skills and a quantitative approach along with an interest in economics, then you should go for a Master's. Also, you get eligible to apply for many economics-oriented government jobs, such as Indian Economic Services(IES), and RBI DEPR after pursuing Masters in Economics. The course here at DTU is designed in a very organised way. In 1st year, we are taught core subjects such as Micro, Macro, Maths and Econometrics. In 2nd year, there are theoretical subjects such as Indian Economics, Development, etc and you are supposed to do a dissertation. The faculty is pretty good. Since this is our first batch, so we have professors who are pursuing PHD from DSE, JNU and many prestigious universities in the field of economics and some are the ones who have already a good amount of teaching experience in the subjects taught.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are a lot of companies visiting the campus such as Deloitte, KPMG, Cognizant, Wipro, EY, PAYTM, Infosys, IBM, Unstop, Grand Thornton and a lot more. These companies usually visit the main campus and we have to visit there for placements. However, since ours is the first batch, we are looking forward to the placements in Economics being Post Graduation students.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are good with an average 6 Lakh package for Masters students and a 3 to 4 Lakh package for graduate students. Since this is our batch, I will update the placements after getting one. But, we are hoping for at least an average of Rs.8 Lakh package. Also, the placements are in the field of marketing and sales for management students and for us pursuing Master's in Economics, we are looking for research and Data Analyst roles since our course is designed in such a way with them teaching a lot of software such as SQL, R and Python. Almost all the students who wish to take the placements get it but it is guaranteed that they will be getting a very high package.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are as per the following - 1st year - Rs.34,200/- 2nd Year - Rs.44,200/- There is so much scholarship as of now. But, they do have relaxation in fees for those whose income is less than Rs.7 Lakh per annum. As far as jobs are concerned, students in the placement cell from our course are trying to get all of us some internships, especially in government organizations. And many students have already started internships with govt. organisation. But, I do believe that fees are a bit on the higher side although if you compare it with Gokhale and IIFT, then it is way too affordable as they have approx Rs.1 Lakh fees per year or even more than that.

Campus Life

4

The Fest of DTU is ENGIFEST which is a 3 Day fest where we witness a number of celebrities being invited to make it worth the effort. Also, on our campus which is USME, DTU we organise many events, workshops and a handful of college fest. Library - It's like you name it and you will get the book. There are a lot of books on management, aptitude, economics and a lot more topics which you will discover in due time. You can also access the DTU library portal online to look for books and reissue the books. Cherry on the top is we have centralised air conditioning in the library. The most important amenity in classrooms is Air conditioners and a well-organised projector system. We have lots of clubs and societies in the college namely Ecosoc, NSS, Sports club and a lot more. There is Nescafe and one more outlet in the college named Refovo. There are a few cafes around the college where we go and have something in between the breaks.

Admission

The admission process is Through the DTU entrance Now from 2023, it will admit students on the scores of CUET PG entrance. Graduation in economics from any university with at least 60% or should have studied economics as a core subject with Graduation in any other stream. Procedure for Application - Fill out the CUET PG form available on the NTA website every year around April. Date of Entrance - 1st week of June

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always held that the training I recieved during my masters programme prepared the grounds for my future development. The teaching pedagogy was centres around participation and a two way dialogue. I am not in the capacity to be suggesting improvements in curriculum as my stint in the university was almost perfect- more than I could have ever asked for.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well designed by the renowned professors and faculty members from different universities in India and from abroad as well. The content was choosen keeping in mind to cover all the aspects of the specific subject for a pg student. As I mentioned before, the quality of study material was very good and helpful and very enough. But the pg thesis is missing from our course, due to which we were not able to do a research project. It appears to me after the completion of my first year that we can do our research under our given faculty but it wasn't mentioned in the course structure as it is mainly upto our faculties.

Course Curriculum Overview:

For the course i must say that this is something everyone needs to study about even if it's for just a part. We have ethics, moral, cultural relativism and etc. In our syllabus and it all really help to make our thinking rational, to see World from that point of view from where one can see the clarity. It's really necessary for improvement in personality and making good decision. I think there's need for making this course more practical like teaching, we can teach students about essentials of philosophy for there betterment of decision making from an early age.
