Remarks
Being an honours course, it was mandatory for the student to have studied mathematics in Class 12. That was the only major eligibility criterion. I had applied under the previously active admission regime for the University of Delhi. Herein I applied for this college through the common admission portal of the University. I did not avail of any reservation benefits as I belong to General Category. With thw advent of CUET in the subsequent year of my admission, I think the admission process has already been streamlined a lot.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had to study something in the commerce field. My first choice was Economics Hons. Failing to get admission for the course in any college of my liking, i made the choice of going for this course. The present ratio is somewhere around 1:60 Most of the students usually don't attend the classes so, it's really not that big of an issue. Most of the teachers are decently qualified with masters in various domains and some possess Ph.D. too. However, I do no really find their teaching to be inspiring. They seem more like monotonous renditions. I hope that they taught with more interest and evoked curiosity with their speech. Most of our classes are often canceled. It leads to a lack of interest and seriousness in education. The exams were fairly easy to navigate as the pattern remains the same and students can easily gauge the repetitions through various sources easily available. A week of serious preparation before the commencement of exams can easily guarantee a student a decent CGPA.
Placement Experience
Students usually become eligible in their final i.e. third year (don't have any idea about the future batches that will have a 4-year curriculum). Big 4- Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and PwC are our top recruiters. The highest package is 10lpa on campus and 21lpa off-campus. I plan of getting a placement or will perhaps go for a PG Course.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost of education at Delhi University is extremely low compared to the various Private Universities across the country. It's kept at a bare minimum of around 10-15k for most colleges. It's however the cost of accommodation that really pierces a hole in one's pocket. There are opportunities for financial assistance. I've had a few friends get a refund from the college after they applied for assistance. A portion of their fees was duly returned to them. We have a Placement Cell which hosts various companies throughout the year that offer numerous paid internships and placements.
Campus Life
Campus Life is pretty decent. I considered it to be great but after I witnessed the same in the other Private Colleges of India, I realized ours doesn't offer us an atmosphere that remotely compares with theirs. Our annual fest-Tide is organized in the month of February/March. Then we have other cultural fests that too are sprinkled throughout the year. The major ones take place in Feb/March though. The library is fairly endowed with a decent number of books. Classrooms are pretty basic. A blackboard, projector, fans, ventilation, lights- that's pretty much about it. Sports are actively promoted. Students go up to the nationals while practicing here. Societies are there too- quite a few. All of them are student-run with a convenor who is a part of the faculty. Enactus, Finance and Investment Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell, Debating Society, Dance Society, and Music Society are among the tons we have here.
