Remarks

I got admission through the NCL quota of the OBC category in the 2nd counselling (spot round). The admission process is really slow, could have added more digitalization. As we, the students, have to go one after another for the document verification and payment process plus we have to fill up some forms which could have been made avail earlier on the website.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I had to choose the course because seats were avail only under this category in the 2nd counselling. There are more than 2 teachers for each subject. Teachers are highly qualified and most of the guest faculties are also passed out from foreign universities. Because of the covid, we had late admissions so now we have to complete the course within 4 months instead of 6, that's why we are having exams every month(2 seasonal and 1 midterm,1 end term). So you can say there are exams after every 15 days but you get used to it.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I am just a first-year student so I haven't applied for any internship yet but I will try to apply for internships during my academics. Most probably the internships or projects will be related to food manufacturing or development in the process of food or improvements in the quality of food, etc.

Placement Experience

4

Most probably the students are made aware of internships and jobs during the 5th semester. Popular brands like AMUL, ITC, Britannia, etc have visited the university for campus placement and the total number of offers made during the session 20-21 is 25. The highest package was around 5.5 lpa and the average was about 4.09 lpa. After graduating I might apply for placements or pursue my masters

Fees and Financial Aid

The initial fee for the course of Food Engineering and Technology under the B.Tech course of Tezpur University is 34,600+1000 for the first semester and there will be admission again in 2nd semester. According to me, it's cost-efficient. Though there are many scholarships under government policies haven't applied for any.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fest and tech fest will be held in February. The library is huge ranging over 5k-6k books and more than 100 genres. They also feature new weekly arrivals. There are clubs for many sports like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, yoga, taekwondo, etc. Social groups like NSS and NCC are there which are run by students and also a part of the academic credit system.

Hostel Facilities

4

Facilities inside the room differ from hostel to hostel including a bookshelf, wardrobe, 2 seater room, 3 seater room, etc. The meal taste differs from hostel to hostel too but the common thing will be rice, pulses and two different types of curry along with veg-non veg facilities. Water is provided through RO purifiers. The hostel is allotted during the process of admission. There is a lack of pg near the university vicinity but there are many rental rooms nearby.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
