Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is Rs.27143 and it remains constant through the 4 years of the degree. The fees structure is not properly provided, it's directly given as Rs.27143. The fees for all my batchmates is same , there is no relaxation for any category. For scholarship (category wise) , the students need to top with a great CGPA in his or her category.

Campus Life

5

There are many 3 to 4 fests in the college. Techxectra is the fest of School of Engineering held in November with many fun activities and competitions for students. Insignis is the fest of School of Sciences held in January or February. And there is a fest of Commerce department too held in between March and April. The classrooms are good but only some classroom are only equipped with smart boards and other are equipped with projectors . There are different sports clubs available for students and play field is also available. There are different social media pages run by the students from academic to meme pages

Admission

I applied for different nits but couldn't get any because my jee mains percentile was little low , i applied for GFTIs like Assam University and Tezpur University, I got seat in both of them but I chose Tezpur University because it was far more better then Assam University both in terms of academics and infrastructure. My college admits students on the basis of exams like JEE Mains , TUEE , CUET , etc. For the engineering course the students are admitted on the basis of JEE Mains and TUEE scores and the cutoff is not fixed, it changes every year . The overall addmission experience is very good, in engeneering 60% seats are reserved of northeast states and rest are All india.

Faculty

3

The faculty-to-student ratio is average, nor so high neither too low. The faculties are approachable for the students but for academic and non academic doubts. There are faculties like PKG sir , Hemanta Medhi sir , Somnath Paul Sir who are liked by me for there good behaviour and funny nature. The for me is Hemanta Medhi sir I don't like the HOD of my department because of his attitude. There are 2 sessionol tests and 2 exams(mid and end sem) in one semester. The exams are neither too easy nor too tough, are moderate. At an average, only 3-4 students fail in some subjects and 1 or 2 fail in whole exam. The course curriculum is relevant.

Night Life

4

After the classes, the students can hangout within the campus and outside the campus too . There are many restaurants and shops outside the campus and also some inside the campus too. But students are not allowed to go out of the campus after 9pm but they can enjoy inside the campus. The hostel intime is around 9:30 pm for both boys and girls but boys can also go out after 9:30 to roam around the campus. If students want to go to library, they have to sign in the register after 9:30 and can come back anytime they want (girls too). Inside the campus it's completely safe to roam around and hangout but outside a bit care should be taken .

Placement Experience:

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute. The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.
