What Students Say
Likes
- I love the energy, students put forward in sports and the unity of the hostels towards it.
- I love the season when fests start occurring, TechXetra is our Tech Fest name, and it used to be the largest fest, once upon a time in whole NE India
- I love how the hostel staff are friendly and understanding towards us.
Dislikes
- I disliked how the semester exam criteria is considered, 4 Evaluations in one semester (4months)
- I disliked some professor, who were biased upon race, and use to make subtle remarks.
Course Curriculum Overview
For a programme, most of the fundamental course help us build our foundations for applications in real life. It builds us, the knowledge we are required to have for solving issues related to this field. There are some department electives which we can choose as well as open electives which we can choose during the course of our programme, for us. That will be a total of 8 semesters. For doing best during the programme, I suggest, a student to do their best during the first 3 exams, since those exams are scoring but scoring in endsem becomes comparatively difficult due to extreme rigorous checking.
Fees and Financial Aid
For pursuing BTech in Food Engineering and Technology, A student has to pay an amount of ?28143/- PER SEMESTER which is ?1200 more than the rest of the BTech programmes. This ?1200 is for the maintenance and management of the labs required. A student in the sense, if he/she is general and stays in hostel. The amount I have stated includes all of those facilities. There is one more thing to consider, the mess fee which is charged every month for the running of mess. It ranges from 1800-2600 per month in different hostels. Also, if there is reservations quota, students can get the semester fee less, as there hostel fee gets deduced and such similar fees. Some economically weak students also get scholarships which they are to apply before the start of the semester.
Campus Life
This is something, I would explain with my enthusiasm. I had one of my best 4 years of my life in this university because of the friends, the fest and the energy this place has. I won a university football tournament which was really fun. During the winter season, the annual sports fest come to life and the university becomes full of energy and life. We had one of the most well built library, which also had AC. It was one of the place I used to hang out to escape the summer heat.
Hostel Facilities
The facility provided in the room is pretty good, except the fact, some random weeks there will be shortage in water, Campus WiFi sometimes stops working. I recommend not having the mess, because most of the time you will be eating outside if you have a rich taste
Admission
I came to this university for only one sole purpose, to create connections, since this university has a better alumni network with respect to the other universities I had in my hand before selection. There are two ways to take admissions in TU for BTech, JoSAa counselling and NE Quota.
Faculty
When I enrolled here, all of the students irrelevant of their branch were studying the same courses for a year. The subjects were just really a revision of how our fundamentals were strong in higher secondary education. The professors were very helpful and guided us in every way possible, except one subject, i.e. Basic Electrical Engineering, the professor literally failed almost half the batch, 250 students were failed in his subject. It's not that we didn't understand the subject, it's just that we didn't understand his teachings. Excluding that fact, it was very smooth and there was nothing extremely hard. There are 4 exams held per semester, First Unit Test, Mid Sem, Second Unit Test, End Sem. A total of 100 marks : 10+30+10+50. The faculty-student ratio is 15:1
Night Life
The nightlife is really good, students who play sports, will be found in the fields playing their favourite sports and students who love studying will be found in the library. Cafés and restaurants are also full with students. Hostel timings are 10 PM for boys and 9PM for girls, my favourite hangout place was VRL, Shuruwaat, and Shristi.
