Entrance Preview

There was no entrance exam required. Admission was based on marks in higher secondary. This is the best college for commerce in West Bengal after St. Xavier's College. It is a Government College.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum was good. It was the regular Bachelor of Commerce Honours curriculum as per Calcutta University (CU). CU is one of the best universities in the country. Course subjects were Accountancy, Economics, English, Commerce, Business Law etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since the college is under the Government, its fee structure is very nominal. It was as low as approx rupees 2000 per year.

Exam Structure

Since the college comes under Calcutta University the final exams were called as PART 1, 2 & 3 at the end of each year in college respectively. Other than university exams there was one college exam each year.

Admission

I secured 89.4% in my higher secondary. I applied for B.Com(H) in St. Xavier's College and in Goenka College. I got through St. Xavier's College but only in the evening batch. i had undergo articleship for C.A. and so i could not take up evening batch in Xavier's. In Goenka my name was first in the list in the morning college. so i took up in Goenka.

The teachers at Goenka College are committed to teaching. Some of them are prominent writers and have published books in their fields. They have a passion for teaching and its very evident in their ways of teaching. Although the their methods are traditional but quite good.

Placement Experience:

Idk but i guess students become eligible from 2nd or 3rd sem. Idk what is the company visited but the placements are very good i heard that, avg package varies 2.4 lpa I guess. Right now i am doing internship so as of now i don't have plans.

Various companies come to this college for on campus placement Average package= 1000000 Highest package=2200000 Various multi national company and other big and small companies visit this college for on campus placement. Most of the students also get placement opportunities whether large or small package The opportunity is given to all degree whether it be bcom or bcom hons . Any student who does not get placed can easily use the degree to get a high paying off campus placements and to go to any good college or stay in this college for their post graduation.

The course curriculum is backdated and should be improvised as it doesn't give any exposure of present industry knowledge. The frequency of exams is that exams are held after 6 months on semester basis and are easy to pass and majority of the students pass this semester easily.

Quite an Average Government College which lacks in infrastructure, faculty, and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.

Goenka college of commerce and business administration is the second best college in Kolkata and the best college under Calcutta University. Hence it has a brand value. Proud to be Goenkan

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years....Read More
