Remarks

Admission to Business Economics in Delhi University, be it in any college under DU, is done through DUJAT (this will be converted to DUCET from next year onwards). All the 3 courses under DUJAT are considered to be professional courses that have more value than the traditional courses. So my choice was pretty clear. I took admission in Satyawati college, then Shyama Prasad Mukherjee college in Economics(H), and waited for my DUJAT result to come. Then took admission to S..G.T.B Khalsa college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

As I have already mentioned, it was pretty clear to choose between a professional course and a traditional course. In S.G.T.B Khalsa college, we have a department of Business Economics where the faculty/ teachers remain the same in all three years. I would say I have attended classes in my previous college also but the kind of teachers and the students that are here is pretty much different. Basically because of 2 reasons. First, we have the same teachers so they provide us with any help and are so much friendly. Second, it's the main campus college so college life is different. Since admission took place based partly on entrance and 12th exams, the students are kind of studious.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are many internships available in the college. These can only be accessed through Calyxpod, which is the college's official portal for internships and placements. To access the Calyxpod, one has to register and pay the fees which are around 110 as of now. The internships are varied and most of the times students from multiple courses can apply for the same.

Placement Experience

3

The students are eligible for the campus placement from the 5th semester. My plan after my degree is quite uncertain as of now. I'll be applying for MBA as well as sitting on-campus placements. If placed well, I will choose to work. If not, then I will be opting for higher studies and then ultimately opt for a job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost per year is around 45000 with the examination fee excluded which is around 1000. There are many scholarships available for meritorious as well as EWS students. Campus jobs are good but comparatively lesser due to covid.

Campus Life

4

LASHKARA is the annual fest conducted. The library is well equipped with books. There are ACs in the classroom also. To conduct classes in online mode, the college has come up with their online portal which is very efficient as it provides the last 7 days recording of the lectures also.

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

Placement Experience:

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option
