Remarks
I did not apply for any other colleges due to family reasons. I haven't availed any quotas. There weren't any minimum marks to be obtained for taking admission in IGNOU. One has to just pass in every subject. There wasn't any minimum age as well. Admission was provided to everyone who duly and correctly filled the admission form and had passed the 12th exams. There wasn't any counselling day. I took admission to IGNOU because it's the best open university in India. Taking admission to an open university helps me save time for preparation for UPSC exams. Although, the benefits of attending college are not here I'm quite satisfied.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose Economics Hons. because that would help me in UPSC exams. Clearing this exam is the sole objective of my life in which Economics Hons. plays an important part. Since it's a non attending college, teachers aren't directly in contact with the students. It's the university and the office members who help the students. Exams are conducted yearly and there is one benefit of taking admission in IGNOU here. Students like me who study away from their hometown get to choose their exam centres. Like at the time of exams, sometimes I stay in Delhi but sometimes I stay in my hometown Patna. So, while filling the exam form, I can choose whether I would like to give my exams in Delhi or Patna.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is very low. It's around 2700 for a year and 200 per paper is required at the time of filling the exam form. It's very nominal and affordable. The books are also sent by the university in the first year. But in the second year and third year, we have to manage our books. The cost of the books is also very low. There is a reduction in fees for the reserved category of students.
Campus Life
Since IGNOU is an open university, there is no fest conducted by the college. Though the students can avail the facility of the library and can issue the books at their convenience. There are no sports and extracurricular activities in the college. There are no social groups or clubs for the students run by the students.
