Remarks
At first, I registered myself for admission on the University of Delhi's website and waited for the cut-off, I got PGDAV College on the 2nd merit list, the college has a really nice ambiance but it does not deliver the kind of environment that I wanted to study in. I got in ARSD College in the 5th cut-off, and I made this decision keeping many things in mind, especially its rank, the friendly fellow and senior students, the ambiance, and the surroundings. I, belonging to the General category, didn't avail of any reservation quota/sports quota. The admission process was simple to be put in words, I needed to login into my registered ID on DU's website, fill in the choice of the college(ARSD College), and general details like name, DOB, address, marks, etc. At the college, they require the hard copy of this admission form, ORIGINAL, and photocopy of documents like 10th & 12th Marksheet, Migration, Provision Transfer Certificate, submit it at the college's office, pay the enrolment fees and you're admitted in the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Economics and commerce weren't introduced to me from the early stages of my education. I started developing interest when I used to sell lemonades at summer camps, and in high school when I took commerce as a stream, I knew this is my aim, this is the primary reason for me choosing a bachelor's in Commerce over any other degree. So, choosing the right college was the necessity, ARSD College is well known for its commerce, one of the best in DU South Campus. The professors at ARSD are highly qualified and experienced, some holding PhD AMnagement & Commerce degrees. The students to faculty ratio at college are approx 25:1 which is considered pretty good. The examinations at ARSD transpire on a semester basis ie every six months, including internals taking place in between. The difficulty level of examination at DU is quite mild, not too merciful though. There are so many cultural and sports clubs, which give exposure to students outside the gloomy world of books or exams.
Internships Opportunities
The internship fair at ARSD held every year with many big firms and seeking candidates applying from all over the university and city. Not only established businesses but also start-ups are seen in big numbers. The internship is offered to students are monochromatic to their course subjects, so that they can have a practical experience. Some of them are unpaid, providing certificates of practical knowledge and letter of recommendation and most of them give a nice stipend, satisfactory enough to keep students motivated.
Placement Experience
The placement ratio at ARSD is quite good too. Many big companies like EY, Wipro, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC etc, have successfully established their interest in the college and placed really bright minds from the college. The highest package from ARSD was about 12 Lacs and average lands to 4-5 Lacs. I got placed in Ernst & Young (EY) through campus placements but i wanted to continue my further studies and do Master in Business Administration, so i refused and now focused on my career up in front.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being under a central government-funded university, the college fees of ARSD is pretty low, as for B.Com, it was not more than 9-10K pa. The college has free excess to library, borrowing of books, free funding of cultural clubs, etc, so expensive cost is never an issue at ARSD. The most famous schlorship that The University of Delhi has offer is Merit-Based Schlorship which is awarded and determines eligibility to students based on their high school (10+2) result. The internship & placement fair at ARSD is one of the most famous in the whole university, big companies come with the hope of choosing the right candidates for their jobs, most of the companies at the college's fair provide internships along with a course of graduation. Not only this, some bright & eligible students are allowed to tutor their juniors at the college and even get paid for it.
Campus Life
The campus life of ARSD College is pretty astounding. Students from all over India, from almost every state, come here to study. Not even in India, even some of my friends were non-Indians at this college. That makes ARSD quite diverse and glorifying. The annual college fest - TIDE, takes place around February every year. TIDE lasts for whole 3 days with every day and evening having different cultural competitions between the colleges and guest act from famous artists like Rajkumar Rao, Kartik Arya, Sukh-E, Milind Gaaba, etc. Alongside the TIDE, many society-fests occur throughout the years. The college has a total of 25 socities including Fashion, Art, Commerce, Film, NCC, NSS, and many more, alongside sports socities with games like Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball (famous ARSD team), etc. The college is surrounded by two big grounds and many gardens. With the greenery on the outside, the classrooms & library are fully digitally equipped with smartboards accompanied by many resources.
