Remarks

I got in this college through sports quota. Gargi is like a second home to me till now. Everything is good about this college the teachers are helpful and polite. Studies are also good teachers always push you forward and have a great knowledge the only problem you’ll face would be the network issue in college else everything is good. The environment is good too with the ground and few lawns and a clean canteen, cafeteria for you to spend some good time with your friends. Overall the infrastructure of Gargi is Good and with good space. About admissions process that time in 2015 everything was done offline in college i.e documents verification, registration, fee submissions. But it was too hassle-free. The seniors were there to help you out with everything you need and suggest you about the college. The admission process was done in between 15-20 days that includes the cutoffs too. And yes you could see the cutoffs online. I preferred Gargi because of its good in both sports and studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose Arts because I wanted to play sports and it would be easy with a little less pressure on you from studies so one can cover both the areas perfectly. The classes are divided into different sections as your subjects and not to have a lot of students under only one teacher and so you can have a good teacher and student interactions. All the teachers are well qualified in their fields and will help you when you ask them. They will teach you in the easiest way you could understand and in both English and Hindi languages. The term exams were always on time once in nov-dec and the other part in April-May. The exams aren’t that hard to crack if you study properly the teachers will also help you provide the study materials and notes and mark the important topics too. So in all, you would have to study hard if you want good grades.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students are available for apply for internships after clearing 1st year. There’re many technical, sports companies which provide internships one of them is decathlon fast&up and others. There are paid and unpaid both internships available. You've to clear the interview to get one and also the percentage matters. Every year almost 30-35% of students get placements. The job I was offered was based on the hours I work it was a part-time job and it paid me 15k per month, that’s good for a student. I’ve got my degree already and I would go for fields related to sports.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost isn’t too high for a DU college. And if you’re good in other skills and have good grades there are scholarship programs in college to help you through the course. There are some on the basis of your category, your marks, your family’s financial status, sports achievements and in any other curricular activities. But you’ve to be good in the particular fields to take advantages of a scholarship as there’s always too much competition. About internship and placements, there are placement cells in the college for the same you’ve to clear the interview first and then you can have a job. There are both paid and non paid jobs available. I did a job in the decathlon for a few months and that was pretty fun and inspiring. The only cons are you’ve to be pretty good in every aspect.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest is most likely to be held in February and the name is Reverie. The fest is big and amazing it continues for 3 days different college competitions and performances are held. It’s pretty fun and on the last day the student union always invite a good and famous singer for the night and it’s called a star night. The library area is pretty big with two available floors almost every book is available for your course and you can easily take them home to read with your library card. Classrooms have Air-conditioners, projectors, good benches and availability of labs for every course. There are also different societies available for you to participate in sports is really good they always secure a Position in university games and same goes for other societies like dancing, singing, street plays etc all are amazing. There are different groups you can find on Instagram for Gargi College’s societies and students social groups which are made by students themselves which help freshers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The curriculum was overall good and being a economics honours courses it was challenging at times. The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
