KGEC- A College of Dreams

Kalyani Government Engineering College ( KGEC) is a very good college governed by the Government of West Bengal and affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology ( MAKAUT). The course fees are very little comparing to other colleges. It is the main advantage to choose this college for a middle-class student. Apart from that, the college infrastructure is quite good and satisfactory to me. You can take admission to this college through WBJEE( West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) counseling process. You have to secure a minimum GMR(General Merit Rank) below 5000 to get admission to this college. But for top branches like CSE, ECE you have to secure below 3000 ranks (GMR). After getting a seat in KGEC in WBJEE counseling, you have to visit our college generally in the month of July to confirm the admission. The class starts in August generally. I have familiar with all of this information on the collegedunia.com website. Overall, it was my right decision to opt for KGEC.

KGEC is affiliated with MAKAUT, so the course curriculum is designed by the university. The curriculum is quite good and good to say it has been updated recently. The faculty-student ratio is nearly 1:10. The faculties are highly qualified and have many research papers and ph.d. They give us their precious knowledge to make us industry compatible. There are two semesters in a year. For each sem, there is two internal assessment examination. It is quite easy to pass the semester.

Our campus placement is good. Generally, students of 4th year( from 7th sem) is eligible for campus placement. Companies like TCS, CTS, IBM, Infosys, HCL, Kreeti, etc visit our campus and take many students. The highest package is 9lpa and the lowest is 3.38 LPA. The average package is 6lpa. Around 85% of students get placed in different companies. Apart from that students also get companies like amazon, google, Microsoft with quite a good package of 30-40 LPA.

The main benefit of KGEC is here you can get all the facilities at a very low price. The course fees are highly affordable. The tuition fee for ECE is 12000 per annum. Apart from that, there is only 1200 for exam fees. There is some tuition fee waiver (tfw) quota for economically backwards. Besides, the college provides full fees and half fees for needy students.

The life of the campus in KGEC is excellent. There are many Opportunities to reveal your hidden talent and do your extracurricular activities. There are clubs like Riyaz-music club, Elysium-dance club, Litmus- Literature club, Infinito- maths club, Entrepreneurship Cell, etc. The name of our annual fest is Espektro. It consists of two parts- Techtix( tech fest) and Exotica( cultural fest). Apart from that, there are sports clubs, Training, and Placement (Tnp) cell, etc. Our central library is quite big and is activated digitally. There are lots of books and journals.
