Remarks

Attendance is an issue. 85% or you end up in big trouble! Management is strict but looking back, they ought to have been like this the admin staff is horrible! You may regret talking to them.

Entrance Preview

After completing my undergrads from St Stephen's College, Delhi University, I was looking out for options across the country to pursue my higher studies, I had two courses in mind, a Masters in Social Work or a post grad degree in English. Christ University had a good combination of offering English with communication studies which makes the subject far more interesting. A post grads from Christ University gives you good exposure to world literature and other genres. The professors were great fun too although like anywhere else, there were dull ones too.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum was available online and it was pretty impressive. However, not all that is mentioned is touched upon in depth. But to my mind, whatever is taught is good and helpful as far as your career is concerned unless you want to get into teaching, for that, you would have to do a lot of self study, clear your NET exams and more! The curriculum taught at Christ is vast and engaging. I had so much fun that I ended up with a Gold Medal.

Internships Opportunities

If there are internships, it is mostly unpaid. The nature of wok would involve teaching as a substitute and I know someone who got Rs 5000 per month (too less) for doing that! She was an M.Phil student then.

Placement Experience

4.5

I got through one of the finest companies, a Fortune 500 member called NetApp India Pvt Ltd in Bangalore from the campus. For a fresher, the package was great, about Rs 6 lakh. All those who deserve and are keen to get through make through to good companies. Infosys was among the first ones to come to the campus. MBA placements too are noteworthy. You wouldn't regret joining Christ.

College Events

5

Christ University has MANY students so festivities and fests were a great time. The campus is so cool you wouldn't miss anything every department has its own fest and each is equally big anyone and everyone can participate at times it could get so confusing that you wouldn't know which fest and competition you're getting into.

Fee Structure And Facilities

MBA is expensive and all other courses are expensive when you compare them with Delhi University. B.Com hons will be Rs 90,000 for a year. Plus extra expenses for living in a pg and spend. That is a lot of money for regular courses however, it is worth the money.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't availed of any such facility those looking at loans and other benefits should directly contact the VC's office.

Campus Life

5

We have had student parties organised by ourselves and those were nice. Freshers party is also rolled out and it mostly depends on the department how they conduct it. Informal ones are fun if you not straight, you needn't worry there is no bias as per sexual orientation. I cant speak for what individuals think or say but on the whole there are LGBT supporters. There are many Malayalis so even if you are from Africa, we will teach you Malayalam.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

No food in the hostel so most students prefer staying outside the campus in a pg there is no mess but canteens in the hostel are good and serve good food at reasonable prices. The juice corner is awesome and my favorite is butter fruit shake average rents in and around Christ is Rs 4000 for a single bed. But if you are looking at clean room, nice people around you then may be it will climb to Rs 6,000. Boys may find cheaper accommodations but for girls, safer accommodations means higher rents.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were helpful and the alumni are connected there is a group as well there are multiple fun groups on Facebook as well.

Exam Structure

Exams were hectic at times and open book exams were fun to yes, exams were frequent. CIA's or continuous internal assessments took a toll but nonetheless, it kept you occupied, sometimes too occupied. Some professors preferred open book exams and we were cool with that.

Admission

I was keen on Bangalore due to many reasons! The weather was good, I had good number of friends around and when I did go for the interview, my professor, Ms Shobhana Mathew (the one who interviewed me) came across as the coolest teacher ever! I knew I had to be here. I didn't know anybody in particular who had graduated from Christ. I liked the campus, I like the course structure and I loved the interviewer forms were available on the college website and all the formalities were done online. That saved me a lot of time christ is very organised when it comes to the admission process and the results after the interview was released the very next day. I was hopeful I will get make through and I did! I had a good score in my under grads as well. I got 62% in English (hons) which as per DU standards is a great score.

Faculty

3.5

Professors don't get a chance to be there if they aren't qualified! So unqualified educators at Christ is a NO NO! But yes, they could be very drab and boring at times, some of them most of the professors I came across like Dr Anil Pinto, Mrs Shobana Mathews, Ms Renu had a hold on their subjects.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester where you have to do an internship project for the semester based Most of the companies that visit are from the news organisations like Bangalore Times, The Hindu, Mint, Times of India, Deccan Herald and other companies like ITC also visit frequently. I am not quite sure about the packages offered.

By the end of the 2nd semester, we are constantly notified about any vacancies in any department. The college placement cell sends us notifications through our class monitors or sometimes throyoutlr HOD. Even after the end of our final semester exam, we are added in a group that is specially meant for job opportunities and placements, where they constantly update and notify us. Out of 32 students in our class, a total of 12 students got placement. As for me, my plan is to do PhD in the said field.

Curriculum is relevant for us which helps us to attempt competitive exams. Actually the curriculum changes our mindset and it helps to face the real society. I don't think that improvements needes in curriculum. We get one & half hour for internal tests and 3 hours for sem exams and it is enough foe us to cover whole question paper.
