Course Curriculum Overview
I specifically chose this curriculam firstly because of its affordability. The course curriculum is also very apt which teaches you the essential subjects. A lot of seminars are conducted which help us to interact with industry experts. Assignments and presentations are also an integral part which help us to learn the subjects better.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester where you have to do an internship project for the semester based Most of the companies that visit are from the news organisations like Bangalore Times, The Hindu, Mint, Times of India, Deccan Herald and other companies like ITC also visit frequently. I am not quite sure about the packages offered.
Fees and Financial Aid
Totally, per year the course costs 1,10,000 and is very affordable. For the first year it costs- 1,25,000 for those living in Karnataka and for Non-Karnataka residents it costs 1,35,000 The eligibility fee is 10,000 Admission fee(non-refundable) is 5,000 Tution fee is 77,000 Other fees: 33,000
Campus Life
For the PG department of Mass Communication and Journalism an annual fest called MediaCon is conducted which is an international research conference. This year we celebrated the 9th edition of the conference The library of our university is vast, I mean it! It has every book. Every classroom is well equipped with good number of chairs and desks, projectors and speakers.
Admission
So I chose this college based on its affordability and location. I applied to Christ University and I got through the interview & addmission exam easily but it cost too much for me. Per year the fees was 2L whereas in St. Joseph's University, it costs 1.10L per year. The university is also located in a transportation-friendly location, you can travel by public and private transport. The admission process in our college includes an entrance test which for me was an oral examination conducted by the professors of the college. The next step was an interview with the Dean. Both the rounds, personally, were super easy, interactive and fun.
Faculty
The faculty members are amazing here. They are highly qualified, experienced, supportive. The exam system consists of mid-term and end-semester exams, along with internal assessments, assignments, and practicals.
Interview Experience
There wasn't any GD for the admission. Yes there was an interview round which asked general questions like why do you want to study here, what do you aspire to become and where do you see yourself in a couple of years. For the entrance exam, this wasn't like any other entrance exam. It was an oral examination round. The university had mailed a set syllabus to study for the exam and the professors asked us based on the syllabus but more on the general knowledge. I thoroughly read through the syllabus and also brushed up on my general knowledge, especially current affairs.
Night Life
You get a variety of foods in both veg and non-veg and they are quite affordable too. I personally love Paachu rolls for their jumbo rolls and also there's this small shop called The Kitchen or something and their pasta and rolls are super delicious!
