Entrance Preview

I took WBJEE and scored heavily to secure a modest rank in top 2.75 percentile. Only best students nowadays make it to here and many come here with a year drop.Don't get deterred by higher cut off of some pvt colleges as most seats over there are occupied by students from other states who give wbjee in hope of getting into Jadavpur university. Later this seats remain vacant and sold to the highest bidder(rank may be 60000 wbjee).

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course str is based on as designed by makaut but the college is autonomous which means whatever is taught in class will appear in exam. Say if 1 chapter is taught in semester then that is the syllabus.Intelligent students can understand what I mean. On the other hand leather technology college is under makaut and you have to study the organizer through the year like a fool and there will be no scope for research oriented thinking.

Internships Opportunities

College provide internship but exactly amt is not known by me. The incredible course fee we have I DONT THINK anyone needs a stipend. RS 48000 for entire course. Yet many scholarship is provided by the government of West Bengal. And the amt is healthy.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement opportunities are decent approx 25 companies visit every year. Total student strength is 120 so if mass recruits like tcs, cts, wipro etc are neglected yet people find good jobs in PWC, yodlee,IBM, HCL, Amazon, RAK ceramics,Vesuvius etc. You must also consider that you are spending only rs 48000 that too in 4 yrs in this way your joining salary is at least twice of a student from a pvt college and even from an NIT.

College Events

4

Karmatek is the main tech fest celebrated every year.Various colleges take part. Jagriti is a cultural fest celebrated. We have a very good air conditioned auditorium. All fest are conducted there. However the overall size of our campus is small so nothing is hilarious.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is one of the best in the planet. It is affordable to everyone in the society rs 48000 in 4 yrs this doubles the first joining salary of our engineers. Even that is exempted if appropriate scholarship forms are filed.Economically backward class get special attention.Fee structure is the reason what makes study here glorious.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many state govt scholarship scheme is available. Studying here is merely equal to a scholarship. No loan is required to study here.

Campus Life

3

The campus is pretty small. Because the overall strength of students is around 500(including btech and mtech). This is yet another bonus as students are not treated like dogs during campus employment(as in pvt colleges) Gender ratio is quite balanced around 3:7. There is no politics in college and this is again a huge plus.Robotics is not our strength but debate is. Sports are conducted both in small and large scale. Our ground is however a bit small.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel facilities are very bad. There is no formal hostel at all. But as the college is situated in the center of the city so plenty of mess and lodging is available. Food is nothing that great in the canteen but it is damn cheap.Few types of traditional food is is available.PG is the need of the hour for far away students. A room comes for rs 9000 and it can be shared by 3 to 4 students.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful and they are like friends(not initially). Every one is good in academics and lateral thinking. Alumni network is not so strong. As no of pass outs is very small. It is one of the major problem here.

Exam Structure

Study pressure is fairly modest. Only on Saturdays there is no lab conducted. Almost Every day there is some lab or the other. But like in all govt colleges the infrastructure of lab is not that awesome but it is still ok considering the amt we are paying to the college. The mechanical workshop is well equiped and the entire unit is very helpful.

Faculty

5

College has a supreme faculty.Highly highly qualified and talented teachers teach here. All are government employees and hence no question of 'tution culture' like in pvt colleges. The electrical dept is in a bit of muddle as the teacher has just retired. We have three physics teachers teaching simultaneously only one is a bit boring. There are two maths teacher teaching simultaneously. There are two mechanical science teacher and a single awesome chemistry teacher.I can tell you every one is very interesting. Some part time teachers are also recruited to minimize load on professors they may not be that awesome.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
