Remarks
The St. Xavier's College, Kolkata is one of the oldest colleges of Kolkata. It is one of the best colleges. It has a history of more than 150 years. It has one of the best professors. the brand name it has and the quality of education there gives an extra edge over others in this competitive world. also, the b.com morning division is one of the most difficult courses to be in St. Xavier's College simply because of the fact that the college starts at 6 am with Father Vice Principal and Dean Sir standing at the front and back gates, who would deny us attendance for the first period if you entered the college at 6:05 am. During winters, it is still dark in the sky when our classes begin. However, it teaches us determination.
Course Curriculum Overview
the college offers a very practical oriented syllabus, which is in line with the syllabus devised by the UGC. we are also taught the latest amendments in tax laws, both direct and indirect, economic laws, mercantile laws, etc. We are also being updated by the current affairs as there is a mandatory seminar to be conducted for each subject, wherein we are required to give a presentation on the topics assigned, helping us to improve public speaking, self confidence
Placement Experience
many big companies who want to recruit freshers come to our college. I, being a CA student, have not applied for the recruitments in the Placement Cell. But the companies are of high profile. A society of our college, Enactus, is a society which brings our entrepreneurial ideas, which help the vulnerable sections of the society. Enactus brought a project Shuddhi, which was based on making water purifiers and distributing it at low cost to the people who need it the most, and the venture was a huge success.
College Events
We have a sports dept which organises various inter & intra college events and inter & intra department events, such as inter dept cricket competition, inter college badminton competition. also, we have societies like Xavier's Commerce Society (XCS), Xavier's Management Society (XMS), Enactus, Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), etc which organize many activities, like our annual college fest The Xavotsav, Innovision, etc
Campus Life
the college has a sports room, with table tennis table, professional carrom board, etc. we have a library which has innumerable number of books and e-resources in the form of research papers, etc. which are very helpful while preparing for exams at the various levels, be it for college examinations or for competitive exams.
