It's all because of this excellent course selection as passing time students learn different subjects and start liking different subjects and taking it as a major.

Course Curriculum Overview

In IISERK in first year student have 7 subject (maths, chemistry, biology, physics, earth sciences)+ computer and humanities In second year student have option to choose 3 pre major out of first 5 subjects above.in third year student have to select 1 major out of 3 premajor. By this pattern student have a option to learn any all the subject and choose what they want to study and pursue career in.Many times students came thinking they will take earth sciences or whatever but ended up taking different subject as a major.

Placement Experience

Most of the students gets PhD in USA and Europe.or others join R&D department of many big companies like ITC TCS lakme solvay. Every year there are lot of student getting selected in Weizmann from Israel. Mitac of Canada or other big universities for summer internship in Europe USA Singapore Australia etc.

College Events

Inquivesta is one largest science fest in India. In which there a lot of events like LOST, CSI,Ramble on,(Synchrome Fusion,Spoof)under Art Beat College participate in IISM,IICM too. That stands for Inter IISER sports meet,and cultural meet In which all IISERs IISc Bangalore NISER CEBS participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees is around 38k per semester mode in bank transfer or NEFT. There is total transparency in fee breakup. Students get Various financial aid too.

Student gets inspire scholarship as per the government rules. Some students get institute scholarships too as financial aid. Many are KVPY scholars.

Campus Life

The campus is too friendly. From mess staff to security ppl all are ready to serve you anytime. Gender ratio 3:2 boys girls. Students can visit opposite-sex hostels too. No restrictions to move anytime within the campus. Excellent footpaths for a night walk, there are sitting areas near the pond where students get relaxed. There are lots of clubs lit club, art club, movie club, dance club, music club, nature club, campus radio, cube club, science club, quiz club which are active daily. Every club has its own personal hall for gatherings. In sports, It has a well-equipped gym volleyball court basketball court cricket ground football ground lawn tennis court, TT room. badminton court chess room etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni is spread all over Europe USA and India too. They are very helpful to all whether they know you or not and this connection is very important as none of the students face any problem when they go to Europe USA for internship or higher studies in finding homes food.

Admission

I got admission through Jee advance stream candidate must less than 10000 rank in CRL rank list or in their respective categories OBC NCL SC ST. There are 2 more streams KVPY and SCB. For this there are 12th board cutoffs then after there is an entrance exam. After 12 board results, SCB portal is open. students can apply from there. Then there is an entrance exam. Results are announced in mid-July. The new semester begins in the first week of August. Any student who wants to pursue Science. IISER 's are the best option. It has all the latest instruments and excellent faculty. Infrastructure is wonderful with excellent mess food and hostels. IISER KOLKATA campus is widespread and has 5 ponds. Long roads gym volleyball court basketball court cricket ground football ground lawn tennis court, TT room, badminton court etc.

Faculty

The faculty is excellent. Many of them have done their Ph.D. from the USA, Europe. and Some of them are Bhatnagar awardees too. Every day there is a research paper getting published from some lab. Professors are too active and easily approachable. Some of them are even available in WhatsApp too. Around there are 4 lectures per day according to the courses opt.

Actually Some of the Local Companies & Private banks Offer placements which are averagely worth 250000/-. Some of the Students appear for it , but the Number is Very less. Actually In Present Circumstances , Most students wants a stable Government, Especially Central Gov job . So they Prepare for exams like SSC , SBI , IBPS, LIC , RRB etc.

Placements are quite good.But if you are looking for placement I would suggest to join M Stat or MSQE rather than M Math. M.Math students mostly go for higher studies. Regarding you will better recommendations in ISI.
