Remarks

It is one of the best research institutes in India. It is an institute for future scientists. My interest lies in research work and I found IISER Kolkata best in this field and that's why I choose IISER Kolkata for my graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview

Almost all faculty members in our college are good in academics. They have done well in their academics. Most of them are from Bengal, almost 98% of them. Regarding the course structure, it is completely different from normal B.Sc. and M.Sc. It is research-based and completely theoretical. If you don't like to read and memorise much, you should not opt IISER. Engineering is a practical study, while pure science is completely theoretical.

Placement Experience

4.5

These are the colleges made for research purposes, and they are not job oriented. There are no official placements in any IISER. Most of the students opt for higher studies in abroad. Moreover, IISER students get a benefit over other students during admissions in abroad colleges due to its reputation in the field of research.

College Events

4.5

Inquivesta is one of the biggest fests of science in Asia. It is organised every year. Apart from this, it organises other events like cultural, IISER sports meet, and ISM. Other normal events like DJ night and department days are also conducted.

Campus Life

IISER-K has an average campus in comparison to other Indian institutes like IITs, IIScs, IISERs. However, it has a very nice and beautiful campus in comparison to other private institutions. There are modern buildings, and the best building is the Research Complex. It has an Olympic size swimming pool, and all other sports are also available here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think I'm a curious student. Integrating biology with technology is interesting Recently we are studying animal tissue culture plant tissue culture which is superb. Generating a plan from a single cell is truly something interesting. I was drawn to genetics and biotechnology application . This curriculum prepares a student for research and industrial purpose . We get to do lab experiments project work under professors. In my opinion improvement can be done by industrial visits Exams take place at the end of each semester and we have mid sems in between

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum in terms of relevance as moderately relevant. My decision to choose this course was primarily influenced by its research learning facility and practical based learning. The curriculum helps each individual to prepare for further comepetitive exams and expanding their jobs option with full and profound knowledge of data based works and computer skills. To enhance the course curriculum and teaching methods , I would suggests dedicating deep learning with lots of real life examples, updating the syllabus to recent advancements Providing recorded lectures would be of so much help and providing more opportunities for students to present their work giving them detailed feedback would improve the skills and learning capacity of the students.
