Remarks

The college is quite small and only 4 different branches are there. It's one of the disadvantage because all other colleges are build on acres of land. Even though the college is small the facilities are of high standards. We have a ground for football and another for basketball and volleyball. Teachers support us for extra curricular activities. They are supportive and helpful. A few teachers are strict but overall they are supportive. The canteen us also small and the food is just ok.

Entrance Preview

I took KEAM (kerala entrance exam) entrance to get into model engineering college. My rank was 3505 and this made me eligible to join model engineering college. I already planned to chose computer science because I loved everything about computers. We use computers for almost everything now a days and the scope and job opportunities for computer science is very high. Model engineering college is very famous for its placement records and facilities hence I opted for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is quite simple and interesting. It's more of practical programming than mugging up notes. Hence it's easier to understand and learn. The new programming languages like python is interesting.

Internships Opportunities

Many startups have been coming for taking in interns. A month back cognicor held a coding competition for selecting students for internships. A lot of companies offer high amount of money for internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

Almost 95% students get placed in huge companies like musigma, myntra, Amazon, yahoo etc. Placements happen at 7th semester. Average package by myntra is 15lakhs per annum. Almost every week at least one company arrives for the placement drive. Generally a aptitude test and group discussion is done to reduce the number of candidates and then the interview is done. A lot of students from external Institutes come for the interview at times.

College Events

5

Our college is famous for its techno managerial fest called Excel. It was one of the first technical fests to be held in india after techfest iit Bombay. It is a 3 day event held in the month of September. More than 10000 students from various part of India arrive to participate for the event. There are like 80+ technical and non technical events and 1 million rupees at stake. It's one of the best technical festival in kerala.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans can be availed from the banks. The government gives scholarship for the students. And 5 students in general category from each branch is given fee waiver ie no tuition fee. There are other scholarship based on caste and reservations.

Campus Life

5

The life is very exciting here. There are equal amount of girls and boys in each class. There are many clubs and each month they organise events for the students. There is no politics in our college. Different workshops on ethical hacking, Linux kernels, electrical safety and robotics are arranged. There is no discrimination and the college is ragging free. Parties in dorms are not allowed which is sad but in one way is good because no liquor is allowed on the college premises.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Only mens hostel is there in our college. The priority of admission is based on the distance of their homes from the college. The approximate cost per month for one month is 3000rs in which food is also included. The food is good and non veg is available at 2 different days of the week. There are other private hostels for girls close to the college.

Alumni/Alumna

The main reason for the good placement is due to our alumni. Our senior's are friendly and helpful from what I experienced. They help us in our projects if we have any doubts. Many of the startups are by our senior's which come for internships.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty and facilities in our college is very good and is one of the first few engineering colleges to be started in india.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
