Remarks

It's a good college that provides the students every opportunity to grow but the college thinks of students as a money minting machine and is quite expensive The college is increasing its strength of students every year and there's not going to be enough facilities for everyone

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is good and up to date but there isn't much focus on research. Some days are hectic when you have classes and labs from 8 to 5 and sone days it's pretty chilled. Really depends on the hours that your subjects demand you put in per week. Before exams there's one week holiday for preparation.

Placement Experience

4

Yeah, the college has quite a few good companies coming for placements and internships. Last year the highest package bagged was 39 lacs per annum given my Microsoft. This year I think it's 43 lacs I'm in first year so I have yet to sit for placements For internship mechanics and civil go in 6th semester while ece and computer go in 8th

College Events

5

Saturnalia-texhno-cultural fest :very huge crowds and loads of participants Eclectiza:inter college literary fest: not a huge crowd but amazing cash prizes. TFF- thapar food festival -a week long food Festival :huge crowds

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive fees varies from branch to branch Ece and enc is 178000 per semester Computer is 189000 Other branches is 160000 Break up of fees is Tuition : 95000 Development fees :50000 Medical : 400

Fees and Financial Aid

There's scholarship available. There's a full fee waiver for the top notch students. Amd then the scholarship goes on decreasing in amount with the lowest being about 15000. Scholarships are given on the basis of marks on jee as well as boards

Campus Life

5

The gender is about 1:4 overall but is not uniform in different branches. The sports facilities are world class. There are a bunch of societies from cultural to technical. In general the population is tolerant but slightly biased towards residents of punjab and the institute also has a 50% reservation for them

Hostel Facilities

4

Depending on the hostel you get, your experience can be average to very good. Hostel B, C and H are average While FRE is very good Rooms are either two seater or thouree seater or 4 seater. There's also a choice of AC available in some hostels. Rooms in general are spacious and mine has a balcony and an attached bathouroom as well but not every room gets that.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are actually very helpful and fun to talk to. They guide you when in doubt and help you out in college matters I have not had any interaction with the alumni yet The alumni network is strong and there's an alumni in focus magazine published every month

Admission

I got admission into this college on the basis of jee mains marks, The first thouree rounds of admission process happen online and then there is an in-person counseling for which you need to come to the college. In the in person counselling, they make you sit in descending order of your rank and call a group of children at a time and that's about it. I chose ECE because of my interest in physics amd specifically electronics and the course has a good demand in the industry.

Faculty

4.5

They all have a PHD so I feel they are quite qualified. And most of them show a keen interest to teach students but obviously not every faculty is interested equally. Some faculty take a great deal of interest and make sure you understand what they are teaching and yet there are some who come and go without giving a shit.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
