Remarks

Best College in Kerala for CS students. The college infrastructure isn't much good. The college is small to be honest. But the quality of students in technical knowledge and tremendous placement stats outshines it completely. That's why I opted this college even though I had a good rank

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The college follows Kerala Technical Universities curriculum and so it's not the worst in my opinion. But still not the best. As I am a first year student, I would say the subjects are not very interesting. I opted computer science and I have to study all the subjects the first year including Mechanical, Civil, Chemistry, physics, Electrical, Graphics etc. That's the only problem I guess. And about Lab, Model Engineering College (MEC) isn't the best at providing tools. And like all KTU colleges, there's a lot to write in your record book

Placement Experience

5

Model Engineering College is THE BEST college in Kerala in terms of placements for Compute Science and Electronics department. Literally. Last year, the college had almost 100% placement in the CE department. This is because the quality of students. They have impressive technical knowledge in the field. Big names like Google, Microsoft,Nvdia, Adobe etc have hired from the college in the past years. If you're looking for a college for good placement, MEC is the place

College Events

5

Excel is the techno managerial flagship fest of the college and it's first of its kind in India with the first edition held in 2001. With a lot of technical competitions, events an fun, Excel days are the best days in the college. Layatharang and Chakravyuh are the Arts and Sports Fest of the college which is also nice. It's an intra college event

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it's a Govt Self Financing College, the fees for State Merit seat is Rs. 35,000 per annum. For Management seat, it is RS. 65,000 and nearly Rs. 100,000 for NRI seats. Compared to other Govt Colleges, it is higher for the merit seat.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College offer fee waiver for Top ranked students. Also the college helps to worthy students to claim scholarships by making them aware of it. Laptops are provided for scheduled class at free/ discount rates

Campus Life

3.5

Labs (except EC and CS labs) aren't at par with the other colleges in my opinion. It's not the worst but still not the best The college gives a lot support to sports and have Sports Fest in which College houses compete. They college also have social welfare societies like NSS, Thanal and Bhoomitra Sena which gives a sense of humanity to the students

Alumni/Alumna

Yeah. One of the best things about MEC. Seniors helps the juniors a lot in developing their technical knowledge. Ex MECians play a major role in the fantastic placement stats of the college. They influence a lot to bring placement drives to their beloved college

Admission

I had appeared for KEAM which was held in May 2019, after my CBSE board exams. Then after getting the results, I submitted my +2 results to KEAM website. After normalization of KEAM marks and CBSE marks for PCM, I was given a KEAM rank. Then I had to list down my preferred colleges in order at the KEAM website and I was allotted a college according to my rank (There are a total of three allotments). Then I took admission at the college

Faculty

4.5

Faculty of the college are nice and does their best. They teach with passion. Atleast most of them. And the faculty does a lot support for the placement cell of the college which is the best part of the college

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
