For placements and internships, DTU's B.Tech in Biotechnology seems to have a clear edge over Jadavpur University's BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. At DTU, over 350 companies visited for placements in 2025, with students landing impressive packages averaging 10-15 LPA and the highest reaching 1.2 crore. The internship opportunities are abundant too, with stipends ranging from 10,000 to 2 lakh per month, which is a great incentive.

Jadavpur University, while prestigious, typically focuses on core engineering, and the specific data on placements and internships is less comprehensive. If you're inclined towards a more diverse career path with robust support for internships and placements, DTU is the better choice. However, if you are passionate about electronics and prefer a traditional engineering route, Jadavpur might still offer a solid foundation.

I would personally recommend going for DTU EE and then attempting JEE again next year. You likely have a solid rank in JEE, around 5000, which indicates you have the skills to improve your score next time.

P.S. – My situation was similar. I had options like NSIT CS and IITD BIOTECH. I chose NSIT CS, prepared for JEE alongside, and managed to secure a decent rank of 2300 this year. Now, I'm pursuing B.Tech from IIT Guwahati, and being in an IIT is an incredible experience!

So, I suggest you take DTU EE and give JEE another shot. I'm confident you'll do even better next time!

You're comparing two different branches here, and it really comes down to your interests! Here are some points to consider:

  • Branch Preference: Choose what excites you more. Biotechnology or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering?
  • Future Opportunities: Both fields have potential, but the IIT brand can be a significant advantage down the line.

Ultimately, follow your passion!

Both DTU and Jadavpur University have their strengths, but I'd lean towards DTU for B.Tech in Biotechnology. The faculty at DTU is highly experienced, with all professors holding PhDs and being very approachable, which creates a supportive learning environment. The curriculum seems practical, with ample internship opportunities in reputable companies, and impressive placement statistics. In contrast, while Jadavpur University has a strong reputation in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, the specific details on faculty and campus life aren't as prominent. If you're looking for a vibrant campus life, good faculty support, and strong placement prospects, DTU is the way to go. However, if your passion lies in electronics and you prefer a more traditional engineering path, Jadavpur could be a better fit.

Both DTU and Jadavpur University have their strengths, but if we focus on fees, ROI, and overall value for money, DTU stands out. DTU offers reasonable fees with the possibility of 100% scholarships, and its placement stats are impressive, with many students landing high-paying jobs, making the financial return quite attractive. Jadavpur's BE in Electronics and Instrumentation might be solid, but the internship and placement opportunities at DTU, along with a vibrant campus life, suggest that the investment in a B.Tech in Biotechnology there would yield better financial benefits. For someone looking for a smart financial choice with good placement prospects, DTU is the way to go, while Jadavpur could be better for those specifically passionate about electronics.
