Ques. What is the placement scenario of MBBS colleges in Delhi NCR?
Ans. After finishing MBBS + 1-year internship, most students go on to one of three paths:
- Students will pursue PG entrance exams (e.g., NEET PG) to enter MD/MS/DNB programmes.
- Join as a junior doctor/resident doctor in the teaching hospital or the associated hospital of the college.
- Enter clinical practice (especially if attached to a hospital and patient exposure is strong) or join private hospitals.
- Students who graduate will be placed in top hospitals in India and abroad; the average MBBS package is INR 5 LPA, up to INR 10 LPA after specialisation. Internships themselves provide clinical exposure, which helps build a foundation for later jobs or PG work. For example, top colleges list internship stipend details (e.g., an institute with a stipend of INR 33,000/month), which suggests infrastructure and hospital strength.

Several prestigious universities in the area, including AIIMS Delhi, VMMC (Vardhman Mahavir Medical College), MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College), ABVIMS, and UCMS, are regularly ranked nationally and draw top NEET-qualified students. While both government and private colleges offer medical programmes,s, the most popular one in Delhi NCR is MBBS. Other programmes include MD, MS, B.Sc. (Medicine), Bachelor of Physiotherapy, and specialised postgraduate degrees. NEET UG and NEET PG are the primary requirements for admission, though some colleges also accept IPU CET for certain seats. Medical students from all over India choose Delhi NCR because of its wide range of courses and abundance of seats.
Best Courses and Best Cities:
New Delhi is the most considered and popular city for medical courses in the Delhi NCR region. It hosts India’s best institutions, like AIIMS Delhi, MAMC, and Lady Hardinge Medical College. Here, students can avail themselves of medical courses such as MBBS, MD/MS specialisations, super-speciality training, and clinical research. Gurgaon is best for private MBBS colleges and allied health sciences. Greater Noida is best for private medical & paramedical courses, BSc nursing, allied health & physiotherapy, and newer private MBBS colleges. For core medical degrees (MBBS, MD, MS), New Delhi is the best city in Delhi NCR. For private & allied medical programmes, Gurgaon and Noida are good alternatives.
Positives:
Because of the large teaching hospitals and high patient volume at affiliates like AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital, students studying medicine in Delhi NCR benefit from high-quality instruction and clinical experience. Although private colleges also offer good facilities and more specialisation options, many government colleges in the area have strong infrastructure and reasonable tuition; AIIMS Delhi's fee is comparatively low when compared to private institutions. Research opportunities, internships, and strong networks help students with their future career prospects and hands-on learning. Furthermore, students can select colleges based on lifestyle, cost of living, and proximity to home because the NCR is home to several major cities.
Negatives:
There are certain disadvantages to studying medicine in this area, notwithstanding these benefits. There is fierce competition for admission, particularly to prestigious universities like VMMC and AIIMS, which demand exceptionally high NEET scores. Government universities are reasonably priced, but some private medical schools charge exorbitant tuition, which prevents many students from attending. Students may find it difficult to manage their housing and daily expenses due to the high cost of living in Delhi and the surrounding cities. Last but not least, despite the substantial long-term advantages, the rigorous academic demands and extended length of medical courses can make the experience taxing.
