MAMC Delhi: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 73 Reviews

Admission to Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) relies on the NEET-UG exam, requiring scores above 600 due to limited seats. The college admits top 50 rankers from the general category each year. The process involves NEET preparation, counseling by Delhi University, and a medical test, with sessions starting in August. MAMC features a highly qualified faculty with a student ratio of 1:250 for lectures and smaller ratios for discussions. Emphasizing clinical exposure, students receive practical training from the second year, with structured terms and exams.

The fee structure is affordable, with an initial fee of approximately Rs. 11,455 and annual tuition around Rs. 2,045. Hostel fees are about Rs. 6,000 annually, excluding mess charges. Payment is via challan at the on-campus bank. While there are no campus placements, students complete a one-year internship at hospitals like Lok Nayak Hospital, earning a stipend of INR 20,000 to 27,000 per month. Postgraduates earn approximately INR 80,000 to 90,000 monthly.

The course spans 4.5 years, plus the internship. Notable scholarships for economically weaker students range from INR 20,000 to 40,000 annually, with additional financial aid for SC/ST categories.

MAMC Delhi: 5 Answered Questions

Which college is better for an MBBS: the MAMC or VMMC?

Namrata Das
Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

Usually MAMC is the first choice of aspirants. But, a good number of students choose VMMC over MAMC despite getting really high ranks, and having a Delhi state quota. The reasons for this decision are-

  1. VMMC is much newer than MAMC, UCMS and LHMC. Thus, it offers a modern and fully air-conditioned infrastructure.
  2. Workload for the first 1-2 years is much lighter.
  3. There are only semester-end exams. Despite this, the education quality is top notch.
  4. VMMC offers the benefits of an internal PG quota.
  5. The batch strength is smaller. This facilitates better interaction with peers and professors.
  6. Safdarjung Hospital has the largest OPD in Asia with a dedicated Specialized Burns Unit. So you’ll get more opportunities to learn during postings and internship. There is an entirely separate Sports Injury Centre as well.
  7. The hostels are air conditioned, and the girls' hostel has no curfew. The library reading room remains open 24*7.
  8. VMMC is located in the heart of South Delhi. The best hangout spots like HKV, Dilli Haat, Promenade are all located at a close distance. SN market and South Ex are just 5 minute drive away.

Thus, I would recommend you choose VMMC for your MBBS degree.

The vast range of information and opportunities to study surgery and medicine and learn about functionality's of human body and coordination create a curiosity for choosing this feild. Making files were the worst part because 90% just copy and it's waste of time. Difficultly level is average and most questions comes what teacher highlights
