MAMC Delhi Hostels: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 122 Reviews

The hostels at Maulana Azad Medical College offer separate accommodations for boys and girls, with initial shared rooms progressing to single occupancy in later years. For girls, the progression is from 3-seater rooms in the first year, 2-seater in the second year, and single rooms from the third year onward. Boys start with 4-seater rooms, gradually moving to single occupancy by the final year. Hostel fees are approximately Rs. 6,000 to 7,000 per year, making it a cost-effective option compared to PG accommodations, which cost Rs.

10,000–15,000 per month. The hostels are equipped with beds, study tables, cupboards, and fans, though they lack air conditioning and attached washrooms. The cleanliness and maintenance of the hostels are generally good, although some facilities, like washrooms, require improvement. The mess food is considered affordable and comparable to home-cooked meals, with several canteens available on campus. The hostel allocation is based on the distance from the college, with a preference for non-Delhi students initially.

There are 7 to 8 hostels on campus, and while they are spacious, they are often unable to accommodate all students immediately. The registration process for hostel allotment is straightforward, requiring simple documentation.

MAMC Delhi: 3 Answered Questions

How is the girl's hostel of (MBBS) MAMC Delhi?

Sayantani Barman
Tania Adhikari,MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College (2019)

Here are some girls' hostels allotted to MBBS students of MAMC Delhi

  • Old Girls Hostel (OGH): This hostel has ripple occupancy rooms with decent bathrooms and below-average mess food. This hostel also has curfew timings of around 11 PM.
  • New Girls Hostel (NGH): This has been newly made with better and modern faculties and single occupancy rooms with a small balcony. The bathrooms were better in terms of sanitation, hygiene, and water supply. The curfew timings are better and students are expected to come back by midnight. This hostel has a Girls’ Common Room, a nice place for group studying and eating.
  • Interns Hostel: This is the worst hostel in terms of construction and building. Most girls are allotted double occupancy rooms and the rest have the same rooms as single-seaters. The rooms were congested with no balconies and ACs were not allowed.

Overall, MAMC girls' hostel facilities aren't very good but you will make a lot of friends there and create amazing memories.

How is the hostel life in Maulana Azad Medical College?

Aditya Bajaj,MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College (2022)

Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) has 2 boys hostels for undergraduate students.

Old boys Hostel (OBH):

  • The OBH is a very social place.
  • You will have many friends who will act as your guides and advisors.
  • There is a newly constructed reading room, a basketball court, a badminton court and a 24 hour canteen inside the hostel premises.
  • The only flaw about this is its cleanliness.
  • The rooms are small and the bathrooms are not well maintained at all.
  • But the cleanliness also depends on the students residing. If they try to maintain  their bit of cleanliness, it could still work out.

New Boys Hostel (NBH):

  • The NBH, unlike the OBH, is a quiet place.
  • All the rooms are for a single occupant.
  • There is a reading room and a canteen in the hostel.
  • The canteen closes down around 11PM and opens in the morning around 7AM.
  • The rooms are more spacious and have balconies.
  • This hostel is comparatively cleaner.

Therefore, OBH is a more social place where you get to enjoy as well as study. NBH is a bit more isolated and you have your own peace of mind.
