UR students must have 60% and obc, SC, and st must have 50% in the 12th boards. Since VMMC is under IP but its counseling is done under central College so u don't need to fill IP form for it, after neet along with AQI counseling will also be done. Delhi quota students have way too many benefits as they need fewer marks than students who take admissions here via ALL INDIA QUOTA. The cut-off for SC, and ST goes too low for the Delhi quota. In the admission process, the college helps too much. The administration department of this college is best. they are too cooperative, so no improvement is needed.

Why should one choose VMMC over MAMC?
VMMC offers 170 seats for the MBBS program whereas MAMC offers a total of 250 seats. While both VMMC and MAMC are very renowned colleges, the first year at VMMC is still quite stress-free whereas MAMC adheres to a strict curriculum.
VMMC offers a top-notch infrastructure with modern equipment and supportive staff. It has one of the largest government hospital complexes in India along with Asia’s largest OPD. On the other hand, MAMC also offers decent infrastructure and facilities on campus for students’ overall well-being.
The primary reason for aspirants to choose VMMC is the Internal PG reservation. Since VMMC is affiliated with IP University, UG students (MBBS) are eligible for an internal PG Quota and can secure MD/MS seats at VMMC.
It is advisable to choose VMMC to avail the benefits of reservation for PG courses. Although, MAMC doesn’t provide any reservations for PG courses. Students graduating from MAMC are equipped with a strong academic foundation and can be highly competitive.
How are the hostel rooms at vmmc?
I will give you some details about the boys’ and girls’ hostels at VMMC.
There are two boys’ hostels and one girls’ hostel at VMMC. The two boys’ hostels are- Old Boys’ Hostel and New Boys’ Hostel. The hostels offer AC facilities, and you can decorate your rooms as per your wish.
There is no curfew system in the hostels. A water cooler and purifier are available for each floor, and you’ll get an uninterrupted power supply. Local students have to wait for months before getting a hostel room.
Let me tell you about these hostels in detail-
Old Boys’ hostel and Girls’ Hostel:
- These have decent two-seater rooms. Final-year students and interns get a single room for themselves.
- Each room has only a single cupboard. The rooms aren’t very spacious, but aren’t cramped either.
- People of the same batch share the same floor.
- Washrooms aren’t very clean but are functional and bearable.
New Boys’ Hostel-
- It is located across the road, in front of Gate 7, just 400 meters away from the main campus. You may get this hostel from 4th-5th sem. It has larger rooms and a greener campus. Final year students get a single room. 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students get two-seater rooms. The rooms have an attached balcony.
The VMMC hostels are quite good, and the campus is filled with greenery. You will enjoy your hostel life at this college.
Which medical college is better: UCMS or VMMC?
Here are a few parameters on which one can compare the two colleges-
- Academics- UCMS has a more rigorous testing schedule, which is why its academics is considered better. On the other hand, VMMC provides you with more freedom to study the topics of your choice. For example, if you wish to apply for USMLE, you will have ample time for standard books, and extracurriculars to boost your CV.
- Campus- The campus of UCMS is double in size. But VMMC has a safer campus where you can roam 24*7 without safety concerns. This is because of a good number of security guards dispatched throughout the college and hospital.
- Location- Unlike UCMS, VMMC is surrounded by multiple hangout places. You can visit Hauz Khas, South Ex, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Green Park, and Saket from VMMC. CP is just 30 minutes away, even by metro.
- Hostels- UCMS offers single seater hostel rooms for all, and the rooms are more spacious as well. At VMMC, you can customize your room according to your will. I don’t know about UCMS, but VMMC hostels have no curfew timings. NBH (New Boys’ Hostel) has good rooms, surrounded by greenery.
- Hospital- Safdarjung Hospital is better than GTB. It has the largest OPD in Asia, so you’ll have ample cases to learn. There’s a large number of PG seats at Safdarjung.
- Societies- VMMC has a dance society (Neocracy), a music society (Kehrawa), a fashion society, a sports society and a dramatic society (Kaivalya). I am not aware of the societies at UCMS.
Based on these parameters, I would recommend you join VMMC for your MBBS. But even UCMS is a good college.
Which is better for ug university college of medical sciences (ucms) or vmmc?
As a student of UCMS, I will try to enlighten you about my college.
- Location- It is true that UCMS is located in the periphery of Delhi, and its surrounding is not as developed as that of VMMC. Regardless, the location of UCMS offers most of the facilities required for a good college life. You can access Cinepolis, PVR and Big Cinemas from here, reach CP in 20-30 minutes by metro/private vehicle, and catch a metro from Jhilmil metro station to explore Delhi/NCR.
- Campus- UCMS has a beautiful campus, the best among Delhi medical colleges. It has a huge central field where you can play cricket, basketball, football, etc. Boys get single seater hostel rooms from the first year itself. The campus has two 24*7 canteens, a book shop from where you can access all your medical books, an ATM, and a post office.The hospital has undergone renovation, and looks new and well managed.
- Academics- UCMS offers excellent academics. The faculty is skilled and teaches with sincerity. The Histology Lab in the Anatomy department is really good.
- Extracurriculars- UCMS has a sports society, a western dance team, a theme choreography team, a dramatics team, a musical society, a literary society and a medical education unit. You can join any of these.
According to me, both UCMS and VMMS are good medical colleges. You can choose the latter if location is a concern to you, otherwise, UCMS is a good choice too.
Should I choose VMMC over MAMC and UCMS just because of its PG benefits?
There are other advantages of choosing VMMC over the other two colleges, besides its internal PG quota.
First of all, Safdarjung hospital gets really good funding. In the last six years, it has built two new buildings (one Emergency and one Superspeciality). VMMC offers a decent college environment, just like other colleges. The internal PG quota is definitely a big advantage. To get internal medicine at MAMC, you’ll need around AIR 350. On the other hand, at VMMC, you’ll get it with AIR 9000.
This advantage might be diluted as more colleges get added to IPU. Regardless, you’ll be offered a great hospital, and a good college. Between MAMC and UCMS, the former has a locational advantage.
So, here is why you should choose VMMC over MAMC and UCMS.
Which college is better for an MBBS: the MAMC or VMMC?
Usually MAMC is the first choice of aspirants. But, a good number of students choose VMMC over MAMC despite getting really high ranks, and having a Delhi state quota. The reasons for this decision are-
- VMMC is much newer than MAMC, UCMS and LHMC. Thus, it offers a modern and fully air-conditioned infrastructure.
- Workload for the first 1-2 years is much lighter.
- There are only semester-end exams. Despite this, the education quality is top notch.
- VMMC offers the benefits of an internal PG quota.
- The batch strength is smaller. This facilitates better interaction with peers and professors.
- Safdarjung Hospital has the largest OPD in Asia with a dedicated Specialized Burns Unit. So you’ll get more opportunities to learn during postings and internship. There is an entirely separate Sports Injury Centre as well.
- The hostels are air conditioned, and the girls' hostel has no curfew. The library reading room remains open 24*7.
- VMMC is located in the heart of South Delhi. The best hangout spots like HKV, Dilli Haat, Promenade are all located at a close distance. SN market and South Ex are just 5 minute drive away.
Thus, I would recommend you choose VMMC for your MBBS degree.
What are the total fees for an MBBS and internship stipend at VMMC?
VMMC offers two kinds of MBBS seats- Subsidized and Non Subsidized.
The annual fee for subsidized seats is around Rs. 37,000. On the other hand, for non-subsidized seats, it is around 1.25 Lakhs. The internship stipend is around Rs 26,300 per month.

How is life at VMMC for a med student?
The life of a medical student at VMMC is very hectic and full of chaos.
- It's one of the largest and oldest hospitals in India with Asia's largest OPD so you cannot ignore the heavy crowd during the day. However, after 4, the crowd subsides and you will see the campus is actually beautiful.
- Its central location has its pros and cons. You have many places to shop around and hang out with friends. But the flip side is it has less area for sports facilities although there are badminton and volleyball courts.
- There aren’t any strict attendance policies and the academic workload depends on you alone. Some prefer studying right before exams while some can be seen always engrossed in studies.
- The college has very approachable and helpful professors.

- The mess operates 24/7 and serves fresh and hygienic food. Girls’ mess is much better than boys.
- The seniors are very friendly and guide you throughout your first year. They give you books, and previous year's papers and also help you with every trivial matter.

Do VMMC MBBS students have secured seats for PG in VMMC?
No, VMMC MBBS students do not have secured seats for PG in VMMC. Here is how the internal quota of the university works
Once the students complete their UG course from their college, they're eligible for the internal quota of PG seats of their University and not the specific college. This means that the internal quota is for the university and not the college. In your case, the internal PG quota belongs to IPU and not VMMC. So, Students of all the colleges under IPU are eligible for IPU PG seats.
Earlier there was only VMMC (UG) under it, Mao PG seats were easily available in VMMC and RML, so the seats were kind of secured. But with more and more colleges under IPU, the PG quota of IPU too has lost much of its value.
So, the VMMC MBBS students don't have secured PG seats.
Can I enter VMMC just for a tour as I am a NEET aspirant?
Yes, you can definitely enter VMMC for a tour.
It is a government owned institution, so you can visit the campus and have a look at its facilities. You can also catch a glimpse of AIIMS across the road from the Terrace Garden.
