As a student of UCMS, I will try to enlighten you about my college. Location- It is true that UCMS is located in the periphery of Delhi, and its surrounding is not as developed as that of VMMC. Regardless, the location of UCMS offers most of the facilities required for a good college life. You can access Cinepolis, PVR and Big Cinemas from here, reach CP in 20-30 minutes by metro/private vehicle, and catch a metro from Jhilmil metro station to explore Delhi/NCR. Campus- UCMS has a beautiful campus, the best among Delhi medical colleges. It has a huge central field where you can play cricket, basketball, football, etc. Boys get single seater hostel rooms from the first year itself. The campus has two 24*7 canteens, a book shop from where you can access all your medical books, an ATM, and a post office.The hospital has undergone renovation, and looks new and well managed. Academics- UCMS offers excellent academics. The faculty is skilled and teaches with sincerity. The Histology Lab in the Anatomy department is really good. Extracurriculars- UCMS has a sports society, a western dance team, a theme choreography team, a dramatics team, a musical society, a literary society and a medical education unit. You can join any of these. According to me, both UCMS and VMMS are good medical colleges. You can choose the latter if location is a concern to you, otherwise, UCMS is a good choice too.

Usually MAMC is the first choice of aspirants. But, a good number of students choose VMMC over MAMC despite getting really high ranks, and having a Delhi state quota. The reasons for this decision are- VMMC is much newer than MAMC, UCMS and LHMC. Thus, it offers a modern and fully air-conditioned infrastructure. Workload for the first 1-2 years is much lighter. There are only semester-end exams. Despite this, the education quality is top notch. VMMC offers the benefits of an internal PG quota. The batch strength is smaller. This facilitates better interaction with peers and professors. Safdarjung Hospital has the largest OPD in Asia with a dedicated Specialized Burns Unit. So you’ll get more opportunities to learn during postings and internship. There is an entirely separate Sports Injury Centre as well. The hostels are air conditioned, and the girls' hostel has no curfew. The library reading room remains open 24*7. VMMC is located in the heart of South Delhi. The best hangout spots like HKV, Dilli Haat, Promenade are all located at a close distance. SN market and South Ex are just 5 minute drive away. Thus, I would recommend you choose VMMC for your MBBS degree.

Here is the department-wise scenario Pediatrics : In this department, interns are required to find all the case sheets(files) and reports and arrange them before the rounds begin. They are also responsible for dextrose monitoring and discharges. If you are posted in labor, you will have to ensure the baby’s safety. Surgery : Here, interns are required to do sampling, dressing, and discharges. In emergency minor OT, you will have to I n D, suturing, catheterization, and such. Interns also go to OT to watch the surgeries. Postgraduate students may let you do procedures like hydrocele on minor OT days. Medicine : The patient load varies from season to season. In dengue season, it’s maximum and you will always be busy doing sampling and cannulation. OBC : Here you are responsible for sampling, cannulation, catheterization, and NST. You can also take deliveries in the labor room. Orthopedic : During emergency days you will be busy with cast and traction. You might also have to do skeletal traction. For other departments like PSM, ENT, Derma, Optha, and Casualty, the workload is comparatively less so you get a lot of free time. Overall, through the internships, you will get confident at least in minor tasks, and gain a lot of hands-on experience.

Currently , when admitted to the college , we have to pay a total of 44000 per year . Scholarships are also available, as for scheduled caste and tribes and also for those with army background or central pool quota and the Delhi quota

VMMC - it awaits you

I am currently in first year and i have paid Rs.50,000 for the whole year . Tuition fees is Rs.15,000. University fees is Rs.25,000. Student activity fees is Rs.5000 . Security money is Rs.5000(refundable ). The fees is same for all student irrespective of their their category . Since it is a government college so the fees is already subsidized so no scholarships.

My college: A divine place

The cost of the study is very minimal. Per yearly Rs.36,000 are charged as the college fees and if you have opted for a hostel you have to pay 6000 per year for Hostel that includes the electricity bill, water bill and everything else. You just have to pay for the Mess food.

Mixed feeling abt college

It comes under IP university, but this is a centrally funded college. So, we are studying subsidized seats, so we have fewer fees In first year, we have paid 44k (38k tuition fees + 6k miscellaneous charges). If u opt for a hostel u have to pay 6k annually (500 per month) here the mess has a canteen system which means pay what u take, we have got a good mess. College fee never hikes unnecessarily I haven't listened to any kind of this situation. College, in particular, doesn't have scholarship schemes but the university has, once U get into college nodal officer for the scholarship will let U know abt the scholarship program, apart from that few teachers run NGOs, that help financially weak students. This college has a great name in research, its students opt for the STS-ICMR program it is a research program, and if it is approved at the end of its student gets 50k for his work. Striped after 4.5 yrs is 26k.

My Opinion for VMMC & SJH

Yearly fees for an MBBS Course are 38,000 per year excluding hostels. If you avail hostel facility also then you will have to pay additional 6000/year. VMMC is an A+ grade college so getting a scholarship here is easy. There are various government schemes available to which you can apply & based on your financial status you can avail yourself of the scholarship benefits too.
