Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees for my course bsc programme in physical science with computer science is approximately around 55,000 for 3 years. On a yearly basis I pay roughly around 22,000. The fee has remained mostly stable. Regarding categories different categories have different fees system like SC/ST pay less fees than obc and general . Scholarship is also provided by the college for students with financial issue whose income is less than 5LPA.

Faculty

Faculty members are very respectful and nice . They. Are very helpful.facuties are most of the time approachable .if I talk about faculty to student ration it's like 1:100.course structure is very good .but the exam system is quite stressing we had a very long break from our pratical to our exam and we didn't had any winter break .marking schemes is good .

Fees and Financial Aid

I pay early fees of rupess 17160 at Miranda house under the regular fee structure. This amount represent the standard college charges applicable to the most student in the general category. The see include tuition ,student fund ,library excess and other compulsory component that are the part of annual academic cost. Fee differently slated for my batchmates -SC/ST students with valid income certificate receive major concessions, while general/OBC categories student paid in amount similar to me. The college also provide scholarship and financial assistance for student facing economical difficulties.

Faculty

The faculty at Miranda house is very approachable and supportive. Although I don't know the exact facult-student ratio the teacher are always available to guide us both academy and personally. Each student is assign a mentor which make communication even easier. I specially like the computer science department faculty because they are understanding friendly and help us solve problem with patience. Exam are strict and quit challenging usually involving the limited time criteria that most student clear them. Overall the course and curriculum are highly relevant and well structure.

There's a annual college fest, Mecca which is famous all over Delhi University and has a vast budget of around a crore and is held in March- April. Along with Mecca, several events like Suruchi(Diwali Fair) and Vaktavya(Speaker's Session) are also organised. There are a wide range of books and journals available in the college library and around 10 different newspapers are kept in the library daily for readers. Honestly speaking, less than half of the classes are air conditioned but overall the infrastructure of the classrooms is quite good as there is a newly built seperate block named as Sangneria Science Block. The college ground is mostly busy hosting some inter college matches and some championships of Volleyball, Basketball, etc Yes there are more than 50 societies run by the students itself and it is in every field you can think fo like from fashion society to environment society, social service society, NSS to cadet corps society, NCC all.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fees for my course at Hindu College, Delhi University is Rs. 29865 and it isn't increasing for me but for the freshers it was around 30200. Out of this Rs 29685, 1. College tuition fees - Rs. 180 2. University Student Welfare Fund - Rs. 250 3. Student Welfare Fund - Rs. 2580 4. University Development Fund - Rs. 1500 5. College Development Fund - Rs. 8800 6. University Facilities and Service Charges - Rs. 1500 7. College Facilities and Service Charges - Rs. 14765 8. EWS Support Welfare Fund - Rs. 250 9. Delhi University Student Union - Rs. 40 My batchmates fees are almost the same as mine. Yes, there are several scholarships but there amount are less than Rs. 1000 as they were launched few decades ago. But there is a scholarship of Rs. 70K but only for Humanities students and they are very few in number.

Suruchi (it's a diwali fest) and there r lots of fest and most of them are around feb and March as per the info i gather from my seniors. There quite some books available in the library all ranging from course specific, magazines to competitive exams books and but there if are no novels or other types of books. There r ac in some classes but so far most of the classes don't have access to ac Similarly some classes are like the audi type while other r the normal ones..some has projectors while some room does not have.. Football, cricket, basketball and volleyball are there in my college (Hindu),and the fun thing is that we actively participated in inter uni sports and the sports person can avail upto 100 rs daily in the canteen condition he practiced.. There r lots of student -run societies one can explore

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of the yearly fee was 31085rs and all the lab fees , tuition fees etc are included and regarding with the other categories fees difference, it was just around 100-200 rupees difference...am not very sure wheather the fees would increase but compared to my 1 year ahead seniors it increased.. Quite a few scholarships were available but not every one gets it because most of them are merit based and arts students gets better funding than science students when it comes to college scholarships..

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum in terms are more relevant the syllabus is designed to give a strong foundation in core subjects while also including practical exposure and skill based learning. It balances theoretical knowledge with hand on labs and assignments which makes it applicable to real world scenarios. the curriculum allows some flexibility so that we can participate in college activities and societies giving students the chance to explore interdisciplinary areas. Campus Life

Overall campus life is very good in my college as there is no ragging scene here and there are security guards at each floor and there are many greenery in ground, nursery and parks. Mostly faculty members are supportive and also teaches after classes also and try to clear all doubts of students and pick phone calls. They takes tests after each Unit completion according to the syllabus. There are many societies run by students and some faculty members also like Enterpreneurship, drama, dance, music, singing and subject specified etc. All clubs organizes their annual events. Only Library and auditorium in our is fully Air conditioned, Canteen also have AC but doesn't feel like they are because of crowd temperature. Canteen food is acceptable and value for money. Senior are available and friendly in nature to help freshers in all types of matter.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college provides internships and students mostly recieves stipend like 5,500 or 6,000 as per their contribution provided in the given tasks in events and programs. But only second and third year students can participate in internships. While placement students who don't get any job can secure and internship easily in roles like content writer and executive in small ventures. In college internship there is not much experience students get but it is good for spreading awareness and organizing events while getting paid also. Highest stipend paid in this year for final year students was 25,000 per month for Analyst role and the average internship stipend was 15,000 per month in small companies.

From a multitasking ground to dining hall and even a girls hostel our college also has an auditorium which is like the most modern part of our infrastructure system. Playground and gardens are beautiful but less than our labs as we have around 20 of them. Dance, Theatre, ame Music societies are there and all thes societies showcase their skills during our annual fest Tempest.

Faculty

Not only women though even male professors are allowed to teach at our college which is not the case at some other girls college. So, this opens the door for best and deserving faculties to come and teach here. I love our professor Murthy the most as he has taught me like no one else and his influence on me has been of highest regard.

SO, In computer sciences there are 5 faculty members, each of them are quite approcable and teaches amazingly. Exams are kinda difficult but most of the students usually pass. although in physics the lab classes are just not good, in first/ second year professors just say read the manual and do your experiment ? like you can explain but no. they won't.

Campus Life

Miranda house's fest is as amazing as it could be. Tempest is not that crowded and nicely managed. the clubs are too good, i joined art society in my first year and the memories are just unforgetful. people are just so sweet here.

I can't really remember the exact amount but it was slightly over 16k and for me it's a good choice. For the collage there's no hidden fees you just have to clear cuet exam register in e smarth and you're good to go for this collage there are some charges but it's necessary like lab coat and sem fees and no there's not any relaxation over you're cast There is a scholarship for the financially backward students but you have to score high for that

Course Curriculum Overview

As you know my course is bsc physical science in this respective course there are 3 core subject which do imply in irl situation like organic chemistry which we see on regular daily basis and same goes with physics and maths. There's no need to improve in curriculum but In my opinion college staff should losen the time table a bit it would be helpful for the students like me who lives far away from collage

Campus Life

We recently had our Diwali fest called Ramjasotsav 3.0 which basically happens before Diwali and is so fun as there are a lots of this we can participate in and do a lot of things, is also open for all the delhi university students. A lots off fests like this happens all the year and also we have departmental fests every year. About classrooms we have a projector in every classroom of the college. About the sports then in the month of February the are a lots of inter departmental sports going on and then after these inter department challenges we then proceed on with inter college tournaments and a lot of competition going on all the year. Then we also have a lot of fun clubs in this college. Further we got great society challenges and competition held by them. As i myself am part of two societies and attended orientation of lots of societies and these are super interesting. Like societies also improves us a lot. There are clubs that helps students for eg our mental health wellness society. We also have student portal which contains all the details students needs and also helps us to reach out to college and we don't need to wonder around for anything.

Fees and Financial Aid

So the total fees for General category students for 1st year is Rs.16613 which will be covering all the things like admission fees, tuition fees, registration fees, and all but we will have to pay the examination fees which is not included in this amount. Further the fees for 2nd and 3rd year will be reduced to Rs.15785 and again examination fees will not be included in it. Also for SC/ST/KM/EWS/CW/OBC candidates fees is same as general candidates. But the fees for PWD candidates is Rs.125 for 1st year and for 2nd and 3rd year it will be Rs.120. But if we see yearly fees status then we see that the fees is increasing as per the records and they r continuously increasing the college fees but i will say it is still kinda affordable. Also there are few scholarship you can apply for during your college which can reduce your fees and also can almost cover up your whole fee for the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

I will say I don't wanted this course but as I was now clear that I like physics and I had a chance of physics honours but I choosed the program where I studied all three physics, chemistry and maths. The awareness about the program is very low you got chance to find what you like and finally talking about the exam timing it was little strange bcz there were undisturbuted gap between them where gap wasn't needed it was there . It can be improved. The teaching methods were quite similar and traditional their.

Campus Life

The programs were very less in my course but overall there were good number festivals celebrated but it end up in a fight of religion. Access to books were pretty nice because of library. Technology was nill the labs were immensely flooded with defaults. computers never worked smoothly and lab apparatus were rusted. There were many Social group with their different idealogise Which I didn't like because they were only want attention and for which they create scenes.

In my college ,the faculty is so good . My teacher are very impressive in teaching and so experienced.Their relationship with student is so pure and lovely. The faculty is approachable for every single student and the faculty is also supportive.I like the sports faculty most because they provide all the requirements in my sports during tthe match and after that also. They also provide us refreshments after training. There are two exam in a semester ,one is internal and other is external Internal exam is held on mid of semester and easy to attempt . The exam is taken by the subject teacher and it's easy to pass the exam by mostly student. The external exam is the final exam of the semester and it is also easy to attempt but quiet diffrent from internal. My course is easy to pass if the study is in the path but it hard is there is no effort in study.

To evaluate the Bachelor of Science (BSc) curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness, it's important to look at the specific discipline (e.g., physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, etc.), but in general terms, here's how we can assess it. For a BSc degree, the relevance depends on how well the curriculum integrates emerging scientific trends and technologies. For example, in a Biology program, this might mean incorporating knowledge on genetic engineering, biotechnology, or sustainable development. In a Computer Science program, it would include coverage of AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity..The time for the exam is good and it is enough to attempt all the questions. There will be no requirement of changing the exam pattern and timming also.

Faculty

The faculty members at our college are a mix of experienced and approachable professionals. Some of them are highly knowledgeable and supportive, making the learning experience engaging and informative. The library is well-stocked with a good collection of books and resources, providing ample material for students to study and enhance their understanding. The course structure is well-designed to cover the core concepts, though it could benefit from more practical exposure in some areas. It allows for a decent level of flexibility, making it manageable for students. The exam system, while functioning adequately, tends to be a bit loose, with room for improvement in terms of rigor and fairness. However, it does provide students with a reasonable framework to showcase their understanding, and the marking scheme is generally fair, allowing most students to perform well if they put in consistent effort.

Ques. How is the integrated MSc in physics at NIT Rourkela?

● Top Answer By Sriparna Banerjee on 14 Aug 23

Ans. I am well aware of the situation of NIT Rourkela Integrated MSc in Physics since my sister is a student there. She shared her horrible experience and does not recommend it to anyone at all. The faculty pool comprises underqualified professors with zero experience and will to reach. They are unapproachable and don’t pay heed to the students' doubts. The curriculum is very rigid and students are offered no flexibility in choosing their electives. Rather they are forced to choose subjects that are only relevant to experimental physics. Students are required to get the signature of the Faculty Advisor, HOD, Asst. Registrar, and Dean even for the smallest official work.  The place limits your talents and ambitions so much that all your dreams and talents will be crushed. My sister regrets wasting 5 precious years on this course and advises everyone to refrain from joining it.Read more

Ques. How is the integrated physics MSC course at IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Shruti Gupta on 12 Apr 23

Ans. Academically, the MSc Physics course at IIT Roorkee is dynamic. Some of the courses have repeated topics but for someone who is really into physics, the curriculum definitely suits his taste.  The research work conducted by the professors covers vast topics like string theory, theoretical high energy physics, quantum optics, fiber optics and lasers, nuclear physics, astrophysics, nano-materials, and condensed matter.  The lab facilities of this department are very lucrative for working with quantum optics, low-temperature superconductivity, functional materials, and lasers. The overall program lays more emphasis on experimental physics. The research enthusiasts get excellent research work in top research institutes during their summer internships which will enhance their learning experience tenfold. Students also get to visit famous places in India, Germany, the US, Australia, etc. and also publish great works. Some of the most common places include IISc, Bangalore, BARC, PRL, TIFR, IUCAA, SINP, and IIT in India whereas CERN, and Max Planck Institutes in Germany, Wisconsin, and Georgetown in the US amongst others.  Many consider the department a bit laid back with a less structured curriculum. However, real enthusiasts have been able to convert this weakness into strength by not solely relying on the curriculum but exploring much more. The Physics Journal Club and the number of papers published by students in PRD, PRL, MNRAS, CjP, etc. are a testament to that. Despite very less scope in India, IIT Roorkee has been able to carry Physics to a great extent. The program needs a little revision, only the ones who are truly Physics lovers can pursue this course.Read more

Ques. How is Fergusson College Pune for BSc in physics?

● Top Answer By Riya Sodhi on 28 Sept 21

Ans. If physics is your passion, and you genuinely want to learn, this is not the place for you. One of my friends studied here and these are some things he mentioned. The faculty is good but they have limited course material. You would not feel like you have learned much.  Most students take up physics in their final years because they know they can easily memorize the course material and pass. This is just so that they can improve their grades.  Mugging up theories is definitely not how someone can learn science.  They don’t have a real interest in the subject anyway and they would be your peers. The system at Fergusson is not great and you wouldn’t want to attend classes as it would not matter and you will pass your exams regardless. If you are only looking for a college life minus the studies and want to have some fun with fests and events, by all means, join Fergusson because marks and knowledge are secondary here.Read more

Ques. Why choose Calcutta University for a B-Sc. in physics?

● Top Answer By Saunak Gupta on 10 Dec 20

Ans. If one has the option to secure admission into Calcutta University for B.Sc in Physics they should immediately apply for it.  As compared to other universities that are based on research institutes and teaching is secondary to them, Calcutta university is different as they put emphasis on education and keep it a top priority.  It is one of the oldest universities and has matured with time. They have the best physics teachers and labs that are available in India. The course curriculum set by the college is tough and the marking pattern set by the faculty makes it difficult to score the marks making it stringent. But this is the best thing about the University as it prepares the student for further studies and makes them well aware of the competition. More information about the college is given below in a tabular form to make things clearer and understandable as to why choose Calcutta University for B-Sc physics. Particulars Calcutta University Accredited NAAC ‘A++’ Fees 74,000 Placement Package 5 LPA Top Recruiters Google, British Council, Godrej, Tata, and Infosys The college stamp on the certificate also plays an important role in the future, therefore, if one has the opportunity to take admission to Calcutta University they should definitely join the college.Read more

Ques. Which option is better, IIT Roorkee for geological technology or IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics?

● Top Answer By Anumita Chatterjee on 23 Mar 23

Ans. There are many reasons why I will suggest you to go for IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics. Some of these reasons include, Being an older IIT, IIT KGP has a much broader alumni base than Roorkee which in turn proves to be useful for higher education.  In case you lose interest in Core geology you are always open to sitting for non-core placements which are in abundance at IIT KGP because of the alumni network. The curriculum at IIT KGP is way better than Roorkee in the sense that it is rigorous and much more industry relevant than Roorkee. IIT KGP has good administrative support and one can get funded for conferences. Being an MSc course, you can avail INSPIRE Scholarship given that you have a good GPA. These points are more than enough of a deciding factor for you.Read more

Ques. Is Ramjas College better than ARSD College for pursuing a B.Sc in Physics hons general category?

● Top Answer By Arvind Sharma on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Ramjas is one of the best Science colleges in the country. Being a North campus it has its own benefits. A lot of events take place within the north campus which you will be aware of or be a part of if you take admission in any north campus college. Ramjas in terms of reputation, crowd quality, and exposure is much better than ARSD. It has got an incredible faculty and equally great infrastructure. It is one of the oldest colleges under DU hence has a lot of academic experience. If you seek a fulfilling college life, giving attention to both academics and extracurricular activities, Ramjas is the place for you. There are a lot of societies and clubs in Ramjas, students get enough exposure to explore their skills and talents and enhance them. They are lenient with attendance and also lets students submit an ECA for serious reasons. It will give a proper balance between academics and extracurriculars, here you get to focus on both of them equally. For Physics Honours Ramjas will be the perfect choice.Read more

Ques. Which of these is better in IIT Kanpur: BSC in Chemistry/Physics, Earth Science, Biological Science or Engineering?

● Top Answer By Vidhita Kapoor on 24 Apr 23

Ans. It depends on what you are interested in and what career you want to pursue. My personal suggestion would be to make IIT Delhi your first preference. First, if you are a civil services aspirant, get admission into IIT Delhi in any branch and prepare for UPSC through the various coaching institutes available. If you are somehow not able to make it into IIT Delhi, then invest another year preparing for JEE and aim for a higher rank. Once you are able to make it into IIT Kanpur, again you need to work hard for one year to get a branch change into Civil. You will be competing with geniuses from CS and ME but keep yourself motivated. A CPI of 7+ will make it possible to get a branch change. Attend your classes regularly, complete your assignments on time and you are good to go. Lastly, if you are unable to change your branch, go for pure sciences like Physics, Chemistry, BSBE, or Earth Science. Out of these Physics and chemistry have a heavy workload and it will be tough to cope with your batchmates. BSBE has pathetic placements. Another option is Earth Sciences which in my opinion is the best considering the light workload and job opportunities. The average CPI is lesser than other branches and most of its courses overlap with Civil Engineering. Basically, Earth Sciences is equivalent to Civil Engineering just without the Engineering element.Read more
